check engine light on

Guys and Gals
I'm new to the forum. I just purchased a 98 chevy venture and the check engine light is on. I'm not able to read the codes with my code reader. I have checked the pinout on the obd2 connector and get no voltage from pin 16. Any suggestions?

Re: check engine light on

I have removed the DRL fuse due to the daytime sensor going bad. Nowthe lights are on the switch as i feel they should be. Any fuse i should be looking at first. As i said i have no power going to the 12V lead on the obd2

Thanks

try to reset your computer take neg cable off for about 10 or 15 mins. and then hook back up see if it goes out? if not take it to autozone or advanced have it plugged in. probably in coilpack or 0-2 sensor or maybe something else?

Check all fuses!!!!
As in no power to pin 16.
Did you check all other fuses for 12 volt power to both sides of them.
Did you check the cigar lighter fuse?
Does cigar lighter work?
Or have power to it?

You did not tell us if your cigar lighter works or has power to it.

Power to pin 16 OBD11 connector comes from cigar lighter fuse.
If power on that fuse and no power to pin 16 you have a broken wire in between.
If that is the problem.
I would suggest you run a new wire from cigar lighter fuse to pin 16.
