Lord Of the Rings

I just want to hear people's opinion's on the Greatest Series of Books Ever Written. I'm just finishing the Fellowship of the Ring right now, so I'll be in shape for the movie.

I'm actually going to Toronto on Friday and Saturday to see an exhibit with all of the costumes used in the film. There's alos supposed to be a props display and a real working forge there, so It should be neat.

I am looking forward to this movie. I haven't read the books in a couple decades, but it was an excellent story. It has all the elements to be a real box office winner. Strong story, quality effects, decent to good actors that children and adults will like.

For the Person who answered a)

Lord of the Rings was a Trilogy of Books written long ago (Like 30, 40 years)

It is the tale of a great ring that was found by a hobbit (Tiny hairy humanish people) and the other books tell a great story about what happens to the ring and the fate of its keepers. That's poorly summing it up, I am strapped for time, so if someone could elaborate, that would be helpful.

Thumbs up

This coming from someone who read and re-read the books 3 and a half times, the movie better be good.

Well peter jackson is an Awsome and very Talented director!
Anything he touch's becomes great, so when you combine a great story with a great director you can only get a great series of movies.

Well it was filmed here and directed by Peter Jackson, so its certainly going to be huge in New Zealand. And the big bonus, I think we actually get to see a movie before the Americans for a change.

My biggest beef with the books was the writing style. Now it's just my personal opinion but it didn't jive with me at all. I had a hard time getting through some parts. I wouldn't call it the greatest series ever.

Now the story and imagery was excellent. I was worried that the movie would get 'hollywoodized'. From what I've seen in the previews it looks book perfect! I want to see Ents, oh and heads fly over Minas Tirith.

Did you know that Tom Bombadil (?) will not be in the movie?
