Smile Chevrolet Impala

I'm in my last year of secondary school, and after I pass my exams there will be a prom. It's a custom to be driven to the prom by a rather special car...
I found someone with a Chevrolet Impala to drive me to the prom!

Well, as we talked on, he found out I draw cars, and so I got asked to draw his car, in exchange for the ride.

There's one problem: at the realistic drawing, I can't seem to find out what background I should give it. And without it looks like it's missing something..

Here's the car!

..I also made a cartoon!

Maybe I'll render it in Photoshop too, but right now I'm quite busy..
Comments and critics are welcome!

my dad had one of those, a '69, right? if you look up pics of the '69 caprice model they had an optional hidden headlight option that makes 'em look meaner

Cool, you mean, a grill OVER the headlights? Just like the Mercury Cougar?

Re: Chevrolet Impala

thanx! I'm going to make a massive drawing from the rear bumper, that's really beautiful at this car! Let's hope that'll work out, too..

Lightbulb Re: Chevrolet Impala

I finally found some time to start sketching again.. Here's the result! It required quite a lot of measuring
Of course I'll finish it, in the car's original color: blue.

Pretty back (edit: BAD :P) photo.. I tried to increase contrast, make the lines more visible.

Re: Chevrolet Impala

Reminds me of the '66 navy blue 4-door Impala we had. We also had an "old gold Chevy", a 1970 2-door gold Impala. Two beasts that are long gone.

Thanks for the memories and keep up the great work :-)

Not yet, I'm quite busy at the moment.. First I'll finish the big one, than I'll start in Photoshop. I would love to do that, really!!

@OnThePike: thanx, I love the classic cars! Can't wait to get my driver's license.. But first I got to go to university, study has a higher priority!

Re: Chevrolet Impala

Well, I should find some time to finish the last one..
However, that doesn't seem to happen.. It's pretty close to being finished, though.

I'd say, stay tuned

Lightbulb Re: Chevrolet Impala

Update: Now finished the car itself.. The rest of the drawing not finished, as there aren't any shadows, and I would like to make nice background, as well.

Well, here it is!

It's crappy quality image.. Taken inside with a mobile phone.. Mostly the dark places are pretty much distorted..
When it's really finished, I'll take a picture with a decent camera! :-)

-Number 2, still the same, but this time a better picture :-)

-And finally, number 3, the big one, finally finished!
