Cooling System Elbows---AGAIN!

I replaced the LIM gaskets on my 2003 GP about 40,000 miles ago. I also replaced the plastic elbows along with a few other preventative maintenance items. To my surprise, I noticed a puddle of coolant under the ol' GP today. After pressure testing, it appears that both of the elbows are leaking coolant. I searched through many old threads and one mentioned a vibration as the cause. Everything looks correct as the tensioner is running within the limit indicators and yes, everything is tight. Is it normal to have the elbows leak so soon? Any particular brand better than the other? Thanks for the info!

Use gm elbows only which come with the right orings. Brands like dorman fail.

Re: Cooling System Elbows---AGAIN!

also, as a side note... Alot of times when replacing the elbows they break. You have to be sure to get all the little plastic pieces out before putting the new elbows in.

Re: Cooling System Elbows---AGAIN!

X3...Was highly recommended from Bob and Rich to only use GM coolant elbows. Still going strong after my upper and lower gasket replacements. If it weren't for the excellent advice from this forum, repair headaches would turn into migraines....
