Vin Number decode

The VIN on my 1987 Ford Tioga motorhome is 1fdke30lxhhb11749. As far as I can tell this # means I have a 5.4L V8. I thought & was told that the motorhome has a 460 cid engine. Please help ID this for me.

You're right about VIN code 8th digit being an L for a 5.4L (330cid) Triton engine. This is the light truck engine made in 87. I did some more looking and found that your motorhome is based on a 350 chassis platform for the year of '87. The 8th digit in the VIN for an 85-87 350 chassis/460 engine is an L. So you do have the 460 engine. You were informed correctly. It's right if you think about it. Ford wouldn't put a small V8 in a motorhome.

Thanks Dave, I was almost positive that it was a 460 but the VIN threw me. Thanks for the reassurance.
