Re: 98`P71 Trans ?
It won't EVER shift, staying in 2nd as long as you hold the gas down, or does it shift later than you would like?

Re: 98`P71 Trans ?
Did you or any previous owner put in a higher rear end gear ratio gears? If so and a re-tune was not performed, the rev limiter may be reached before the 2-3 shift speed (in MPH) is reached and it will bounce off the rev limiter in 2nd gear.

Their are no codes comming up,I was thinking shift sensor? Its an old police car 240,000 miles.also when accelerating the RPM races up before it shifts hard into 3rd.Changed the fluid and filter but it didn`t help. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. Thanks |

Re: 98`P71 Trans ?
So 9 months later, it's still doing the same thing? Asking again - so it will NEVER shift unless you let up, right? My '93 did the same thing, now that I'm thinking about it.
