Question 98 P71 side marker bulb replacement

I need advice on removing the front side marker bulb on my '98 CVPI. The one on the drivers side has been burned out since I bought the car at auction over 2 years ago. After I removed the long black cover under the hood there isn't enough room for my hand to reach in and pull the bulb out of the housing.

If you mean the one on the outside of the fender, not the turn signal, there are two 7/76 or 11mm nuts on the inside of the fender. Remove these and there is a screw on the outside of the lens. Take the entire lens assembly out to change the bulb.

Thank you for your quick reply and information! Yes, it's the one on the outside of the fender, not the turn signal. I found the screw and one of the 7/16 nuts. I think I'll find the other 7/16 inch nut on the lens housing after I remove the air box and windshield washer reservior, but it will be worth the effort to have lights again.

Re: 98 P71 side marker bulb replacement

The easiest way to change the side marker light is to remove the headlight module first. There are 2 metal tabs you pull up on toward each end to release the module, then push the module from the inside toward the front of the car to loosen. Twist the bulb sockets Counter clockwise to remove.

When the headlight out of the way, you can reach in and turn the marker light bulb socket C/C, and pull it back to remove.

This took less than 2 minutes to remove, replace the bulb, and reassemble.

Look in the metal brace. There is a hole there. I think the bottom bolt goes inside that hole.
