2000 Chevy Impala ABS and Traction OFF Light
When i start my car and hold the brakes the ABS and Traction Off light will NOT come on, but when i let go of the brakes they both come on. The brakes work fine and the brake fluid is full. Any ideas on what could be triggering these lights

Re: 2000 Chevy Impala ABS and Traction OFF Light
Could be as bad as a Problem with the EBCM, or more likely a Wheel Hub. Best bet would probably be to get the ABS Code read, would narrow down your problem.

Re: 2000 Chevy Impala ABS and Traction OFF Light
I had ABS and Traction lights showing on my 04 because my brakes needed to be changed. new pads and rotors and it stopped. had to squeeze the brakes down so far the level would show as low and the lights come on. there are apparently no chirpers on these cars so this is how they tell you to get your brakes done...
maybe just time for brakes. still could be a bigger issue tho |

My 2004 Grand Am did the same thing a few months ago. Replaced both front wheel hubs and the lights went away.

The pads do have tabs on them that squeal when they are worn enough. |
