Ferrari F355 fujimi

Great box art.

Contents...

But wait ! What's all this then!

Just a little started, I wonder why it didn't get built...?

Couldn't decide between the kit wheels and a set of Tamiya 360 wheels?
No I think it was the side windows. Oh yea the side windows.

Yea this should be fun. I'm open to suggestions on both the windows and the wheels. Just don't get me started on the interior tub just yet though.

the last regular Ferrari that looked good in red?
I still can't believe that this is the only (half hearted) kit made of this car.

I think that the stock wheels looked perfect on this; that or the ones from the challenge car.

Re: Ferrari F355 fujimi

I got this one long before the challenge kit came out. That one comes with the Speedline rims (w/slicks though) and racing seats that don't resemble the leather and carbon ones from the real challenge cars.
I wasn't going to blend in the side pieces until i found a picture of one built without them blended in. I also opened the engine cover vents. Ground out from the inside of the body with a motor tool, cleaned up with a blade and some fine sandpaper.
Still needs some cleanup after the second coat of putty.

You did a nice job on the rear vents. The thinning part is a neat trick will have to try that out on some hoods. Looking forward to more. Should be good, will you paint it red? As i think 355s look the best in yellow and red.

Re: Ferrari F355 fujimi

No, not another Rossa Corsa Ferrari. This one is going to be silverstone.
Like this one though i'm not to sure about the red brake calipers.

I'm trying to come up with some way to paint a convincing 'challenge' grill on that sweet rump. Any ideas? I'm thinking a graphite metallic base coat with flat black sprayed through fine mesh.

Great effort on the details so far! Couldn't agree that the 355 is much cleaner and better looking than the 348 with all those fins on the door and especially no round tail lights!

Nah, the F355 was the last good looking Ferrari period. In fact, every other car made by every other manufacturer has been downhill since.

Maybe try some CF decals (they're not just for breakfast anymore?). A suitable dark 'dot pattern' would probably look spot on- a whole lot more like fine mesh than carbon fiber itself. Finish it with an overspray of flat clearcaot.

Re: Ferrari F355 fujimi

Nice work so far!! Itll look amazing in that Silverstone Silver!!
You could always replicate the rear grill in mesh with plastic buckets for the lights. Its not easy but could look awesome.

Re: Ferrari F355 fujimi

For the rear grill, check out how Alex Kustov did one on his 360 Stradale.

Re: Ferrari F355 fujimi

Thanks gang. I really don't want to do a real mesh grill on this one, though i do want to put one on a future 360 project.
The last of the body work. Just a couple of little filler pieces where the corners of the rear window meet the edge of the engine cover.

Off to the interior...
Seats first. Off with you head! rest that is. Backs on the seats too. Straight pins hold it together. Completely adjustable from naught to NBA.

Interior door panels need a little something...

Even in black on black the door panels look blank.
Start with a strip to match the door panel.

Scratch up a door panel for the rest. Still in progress but getting close.

Built up in layers, there's still another layer to go on the second door.

More insanity to come. #1441

Re: Ferrari F355 fujimi

Some Progress, the suspension in under it now.
Front and rear sections minus brakes.

And the brakes, Painted with stainless metalizer, buffed, sealed and masked for caliper paint. I was going to use some extra tamiya 360 decals on them when i realized that along with all of the other inaccuraces fujimi did the front calipers inside out so the decals wouldn't fit on the fronts.

On to the interior. All the big scratched pieces in one place.

Door panels join the seatbacks, i added a strip along the back edge of the tub and drilled out the seatbelt blisters.

A bunch of little bits to finish it off. pedals join a passenger footrest along with a key, remote and an extra shifter. Seatbelt hardware still needs to be done.

Complete chassis with painted and detailed wheels wearing a primed and sanded body ready for color. Btw i had the color name wrong, Silverstone is a darker shade i'm painting Nurburgring silver on her.
More to come.
