Stress

OK, don't hate me here, but I have absolutely no stress. In fact, I can't even fathom stress. I can't imagine why anyone would want to be constantly jumpy, whiny, sulky, tempermental, etc. I often wonder what it's like...is it completely uncontrollable? Is it almost an external factor? I always see all these people that are always on the edge, you make a little mistake, and their bald head turns beat red, they start breathing heavy, generally look like they're going to explode. When ever someone makes a little mistake at my expense, I just wave it off with a "fuck it." Why can't everyone else do that? Please, share your insights on stress...it fascinates me.

Ahhh innocense!! I remember those days. God I wish I had them again. Okay Heep, without sounding like an asshole. I wish I could just wave off the stress. Unfortunately, 98% of the stress that I go through everyday is work related. When you have to deal with incompetent and sometimes idiotic people, they swing on your last nerve like a jungle gym. On a personal level, I don't stress anything really, cuz I can just say fuck off. However, at work, I don't have that luxury. Especially with the amount of responsibility that I have, a mistake on my end, could cost a company millions of dollars. Therefore, I have to be accountable for everything. When someone else makes a mistake that I have to clean up, it kills me at how stupid they are. Even some of the money managers that I have to deal with. These guys are making six figure salaries, have more money than they can shake a stick at, yet they can't seem to be able to read a simple instruction. I won't even get into the hand writing of some. But it kills me to know how some people even remember that their heads are attached to the rest of their body. So as it pertains to work, I am under a great deal of stress, especially around quarter end.

On a personal level, I don't really care about anything, so maybe I can safely say that I don't really stress anything.

My opinion is your way of handling stress can have alot to do with the environment you grow up in. My household for the most part was peaceful...when stuff did come up, like a family member dying, my parents were calm and took care of business, then did their emotional stuff in private. Even when our house caught on fire when I wa s 9 no one was sprinting for the front door...we just all got up and got our dogs and walked out.

For me personally I experience frustration more than "stress". For example when other administrative people call in sick at my office I am stuck doing their work. When I am out sick or on vacation no one does my work so I come back to a big pile of crap to work on. Other people call in for a runny nose or a stubbed tow, whereas I wait til I am on the brink of death before I call in. It's just an irritant when others look for anyway out of doing what needs to be done.

Oh yeah and my other favorite thing is realizing how inept or lazy people can be. I get at least 5 dumb emails a day to the effect of: "The stapler in the copy room is jammed, can you unjam it?" or "The adjustment lever on my chair isn't working, can you come look at it soon? I really need to get my work done and can't do it with my chair sitting this high (or low)".

Ok I am done now

I can relate to the sister and math LOL.

My sister is 11 years older than me so you can imagine how much she used me as her personal pin cushion and punching bag for her "angry" days...that's ok as I got older I got my revenge.

There are times at work that I feel some stress, but I do enjoy my work so it passes pretty quick. As I've gotten older, I've learned not to stress over things to much. Theres going to be another time and somehow the assholes generally get theres in the end anyway.

I am the cause of most of my stress. I am kinda the mother to all my friends even though I'm one of the younger ones... Anyways, I always have one of them running to me with their problems expecting me to fix it. Well, in the last year or so, I finally stopped keeping everything inside. I find little vents to let out my anxieties. However, I can be set off VERY easily at times. If I don't have complete control of what I'm doing I get very anxious and I stress myself out. I sometimes expect too much from myself in trying to impress others when meanwhile, others are impressed with most everything I do even if it isn't up to my standards. Oh, and I overreact to most everything that doesn't go my way I have a bad little tendency to suspect every downfall as my ultimate end... That's about it...

Other than that, you don't stress much then huh? J/K...I know what you mean though. I've had friends call in the middle of the night with something and thru my sleepy mind try to come up with a decent solution for them.

I leave my phone disconnected, at least at night. The girls in the house always have someone calling at 3:30 AM. I start throwing things at ringing phones that wake me up.

I hate the little punk be-itchs that won't let you over when you are trying to make an exit or a turn, like it's realy going to hurt them to slow down for half a second to let you over and worse then that are those bastards that pull out into the middle of an intersection with a line of traffic in front of them and no were to go and then your light turns green but you can't go anywhere because bubba in his 15 inch lifted 76 bronco is blocking the intersection. Sometimes it makes me want to put huge steal bumbers all around my car and just start making my own way through traffic.
