New 4200

[Luetic]

To those of you that have them, what do you think. I have been debating this car for 1 yr now. Almost done w/ the house thing and will be in a position for a new car soon. Please respond w/ any feed back you might have. Long term concerns, handling impressions, manual v.s cambrio. ect , thanks.

Hi Luetic. If you have been browsing other car forums, you may have already seen my feedback on my experience with my 2002 cambiocorsa. Some of this might be repeated, but still holds.

So far I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The car is fast as hell and is extremely stable at high-speed (as a good GT should be). It also handles very well for a car its size. Turn ins are crisp and it is very easy to keep the line you’ve plotted. The stability control electronics are not overly intrusive and do allow some slip to occur before correcting itself. If you need a GT that will truly hold 4 people, I would strongly recommend the Maserati. If you don’t need a 4-seater, a 911 might be another option, at the sacrifice of quite a bit of luxury though.

I have the cambiocorsa, which was recently upgraded retroactively to the 2003 specs. I have been too busy to drive the car since the service but others that have had similar experience have mentioned that it is a big improvement over the 2002 specs. Other improvements for 2003 include a bigger anti-roll bar and improved use of the skyhook system (which I recommend getting as an option). The results is better handling. Looks like 2003 is a good year to get one of these things.

My car is not a daily driver (I drive only once/twice a month), so my experience with reliability is not that relevant. It’s about as reliable as my previous Mercedes Benz though. There is, of course, a warranty. The customer service I have experienced has been truly fantastic and it seems Maserati USA is placing an emphasis on this.

The new 4200 is FAR more reliable than what it replaced- the Removal of the Turbos and Ferrari development saw to that.


The car is also easy to use everyday- but I wouldn't want to put any miles on the beast :o As a track car- well it speaks for itself- very agile fast and great on turns- once again more of the Ferrari development at work
