Hello .. I am a new comer here. My name is John .. I need help from you guys. I have plan to buy a sport car, my option are a used 355 or maserati 4200 GT or Porsche 996 C4S. Can someone with the expirience to give me any input about owning those cars? what kind of potential problem I might face? I will use it as my weekend car but I don't want to have too much trouble from it. Thanks guys ..

Have the Ferrari
Just get the ferrari. But if it does break down, then you're in trouble. I didn't really know that ferraris had a particularly bad maintenance prob.

C4S
I'm only seventeen but i would go for the Carrera 4S, it might not be as fast as the F355 but you can drive it everyday, no matter if you are going for a long ride or just a little fun. Porsche is the best quality too.

.. the 355 design is so beautiful and the noise is incredible too .. but many info about the reability problems and expensive maintainance cost ... maybe if I can find a 355 in very good condition maybe I go to it ... but I can't find it than I will buy 996 ..

The F355 is my favourite small Ferrari ever. The shape is absolutely perfect - a classic - i wouldnt change a thing, and the sound is also fantastic.
The 996C4S is the pick of the non-turbo, non GT, 996 range, it also makes a hell of a sound with the sport exhaust, and is the better drive. Overall i would have to go with the 996, the F355 is very expensive to maintain, even if you do find a good one... if u do go for one, try to find one thats just had its cambelt changed, otherwise go C4S. You cant be blamed for choosing the Ferrari or Porsche, but the Maz aint in the same league |

I'm kinda in the exact same debate myself, except I want a car I can drive all the time. Thus for me, the Ferrari is out. I think I'd be unhappy w/ the Porsche, because next year they will probably come out w/ the 997-the return of the wide body design, like the 993. So I kinda have it down to the Maserati, it has a 4yr ~50k mile warranty, or wait for the new Aston-Martin AMV8, but is is supposed to only have a 350 hp engine. I really can't believe that they would do that. Sounds like I'm trying to talk myself into the Cambrio Coupe' I guess.

It sounds exactly like that! While the points you raise are valid, he simple truth is the 996 and F355 are both better cars than the Maserati. Can you wait until the 997 is released? Buy a used 993 and trade it in for a 997 in a year’s time? You won’t lose that much money…

I'm only 15 but....
I would go with the Porsche 996 Carrera 4 S... Yeah the Ferrari F355 has a better performance !!! But in the long run i think you would be better of with the Porsche And don't even get me started on the Maserati !!!! DemoX aka Bo Sørensen / Bob

If you were going to put the money into a used 355, why not find a hella of clean used 993 turbo...a very nice 96 sold at a place in scottsdale for 62k, i think it had 22k miles on it ......... the last of the air cooled turbos is one of personal favs, just my .2 cents

Hi there, kind of depepends what you plan on doing. If you plan on driving 30 thousand kilometers per year, including rain and snow, then there is only one car: the 911. However, if you plan on driving only a few thousand miles in good weather, them it doesn't really matter. It's important to point out that all three cars, which you listed are very different automobiles. The Maserati is a Luxurious GT car, whereas the Ferrari has much more emphasis on handling/performance. The Porsche is of course a sports car as well, while offering an amount of luxury. If you want maximum head-turning effect, go for the Ferrari. If you want the best of all worlds while still having everyday and all weather drivability with good build quality, then go for the 996. While I am a big fan of the Maserati as well, I think think that it's only suitable for people placing a strong emphasis on elegance and exclusiveness. Depends on what you're looking for. Nonetheless, I envy you for being in a position that you can chose between the three.
