Waxing and polishing woes.. dammit!

*sigh*

I spent about 6 hours polishing my 360 spyder all up..

At about 3 in the morning I polished the side abit too hard, and some white showed up on an edge .. fixable but I'll need to spray some lacquer into a bottle..

today I finished was was waxing it, and then I was buffing and I hear this scratching sound ... another 3 mm long line of white shows up

*ARGH!*

luckily all on the sides and fixable

at least everything else looks like a piece of mirror. :alien: :alien:

Polishing is what usually gets me from making a perfect model.

the joys of polishing
you always try to get every imperfection out only to find that you have gone through to the plastic
well you wont be the only one thats done that

With three coats of clear, you shouldn't have a problem, how many did you put on? You could also put Tamiya masking tape on the fearful edges while you polish the majority of the body, then go back and careful shine the edges.

I hate polishing through paint! epeciallly on the edges!

I think I'll try what veyron said. I always try to put on a lot of paint so that I don't rub throught it. Or you could put a lot of paint and clear.

hee

I don't clear non metallic paints.. it was red.

and also another thing to annoy me..

the connectiong between theback of the door and the convertible top holder thing.. I was polishing and a whole chunk of paint comes off (about 2mm X 2mm) and I think because I primered on top of some dust or some powder...

not to worry I will mask off next time.. I realised it was me being silly for doing the job with a cloth instead of a q tip ;(
