Oi! America! Pull your head in!

http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc?cid=3...rld&cat=France

Rift Between US and France widens.

Apparently the Pentagon is snubbing the Paris Airshow this year..among a few other things.

IMO This is fucking ridiculous. First that freedom fries bullshit, now this. France is an ally, treat her like one.

Sounds like our government is intent on draggin out it's temper-tantrum and guilt trip towards France. Who'd of thought that the personality of a super-power would be like that of a four year old?

The war is over.the ground war was won conclusively by the Americans, but the battle for the hearts and minds of the world continues. It must be very frustrating for any American who wishes to be seen as a member of a logical and intelligent nation to have authority figures making pointless and petty little gestures like this.I personally don't care much about the Paris air show,or the Cannes film festival,or who chooses not to attend these events. What I find disturbing is that some of the more gullible members of the American community actually swallowed the 'with us or against us' propaganda whole and are now intent on causing trouble against France for no reason other than the fact they they wanted no part of George's crusade.

I'm not swallowing it. I too never plan on going to the Paris air show, and really don't care that the U.S. is not going to participate fully this year, but I think their reasons for holding back are childish.

This saddens me.

How conveniently do some Americans forget that without France there would be UCB instead of USA (United Colonies of Britain) to start with! Just ridiculous. The very symbol of the USA, you know, the big statue, is a gift from France. If there ever has been a country that helped the US it's France. And these petty things just disgust me.

I really think this is immature and childish on Americas part- they are shunning France only because they exercised thier freedoms and told the USA where to go......................

I suppose Cannes'd be better off without all the hollywood trash- but the airshow is different- they are letting down many aviation fans all because of thier sour grapes

We've already covered that without each other, neither one of us would be here. I personally don't like France's political persuasions, but I've learned not to hold that against its people. There are some on here that need to do the same(I won't mention names). France needs to be more benevolent and honest, and the U.S. needs to be more tolerant.

All I know is I haven't liked the French since I was in school (a couple decades ago ) So disliking them now has nothing to do with with Iraq. However, I could give two shits about the air show.

Six planes instead of thirteen, nobody over the rank of colonel so fucking what? If this is as worse as the rift gets, then its a slow newsday.

That's really incorrect. You speak as though the government is totally seperate in opinion from anybody in the U.S. They are elected by the majority of the people because people believe what they do. And blaming this on the government is just typical. Its about damn time some people stopped criticizing just the American government for other countries problems. Our own damn country has become anti-American.
