2000 GT...alarm constantly going off

Well, I'm about to go nuts and i'm sure my neighbors feel the same way. My alarm goes off probably 4 times a day from loud trucks/loud anything around the apartment complex.

How do I turn the sensitivity down???

I tried the way that it says in my owners manual with the whole MALL PGM fuse and all that jazz, but it wont click like it says it should when I try the procedure out.

As far as I understand i'm supposed to:

1. Turn the ignition key to LOCK or OFF.
2. Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the instrument
panel fuse block.
3. Turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY.
4. Count the number of chimes you hear. You will hear
two to four chimes, depending on vehicle content.
You can now program your choices. After programming
a feature, you can exit the programming mode at
any time.

>>> Did all the things up till step 4 and there were no chimes ... then tried to do what it says for to change the theft-deterrant modes:

1. Follow the instructions for “Entering Programming
Mode” listed previously.
2. Turn the parking lamps on, then off.
3. Count the number of chimes you hear. The number
of chimes tells you which mode the vehicle is set for.
You change the mode by turning the parking lamps
on, then off again.
4. Repeat Step 2 until you hear the number of chimes
that matches the number of the mode you want.

Yet again...no chimes.

What to do??? Anybody know any "secrets" on this one, or another way to turn down the sensitivity?

I had to enter programming mode too and was stumped.

Turns out I was turning the key forward to what I thought was the 'accessory' position. It turns out that I needed to turn the key back to the radio position.

Backwards sounds right. Forward would be "run".
