Definitive Car Location list

We need a list detailing the current whereabouts of all of the more interesting models such as the XPs and the GTRs. To start i have included a list of where i am led to believe the models are but i'm sure we'll soon be able to get an accurate list.

XP1 - in the ground at woking (R.I.P)
XP2 - do BMW own the former crash test car? in the BMW museum?
XP3 - a complete write-off? was it rebuilt?
XP4 - no idea
XP5 - at the factory, on display (must be worth millions)

01R - at the factory, under wraps?

please continue this list.

XP4 is in the hands of someone in Fremont, CA. It was originally sold to someone related to the late Bruce McLaren.

To my knowledge, XP2 was never completed and was crushed following the crash testing. There is a silver road car in the BMW Zentrum museum, but I have no idea which car that would be. They also have a short tail and a long tail GTR displayed there as well, each wearing the FINA/BMW Motorsport livery, but off the top of my head I don't know exactly which cars those are.

There is a thread in this forum with locations on other cars - search for "Location of McLarens in the US" or something like that.

The owner of #007 doesn't own Turner Motorsports - he's just associated with them. I'll let 'drewwtms' handle the rest of the details.

mini_magic - disregard what I said about 3 McLarens at Zentrum. Zentrum is the museum in SC near the BMW factory. I actually meant BMW's Mobile Tradition Museum which is located in Germany. I was in a rush when I typed that- sorry. The Mobile Tradition museum includes 3 floors of BMW racing history - if you're passionate about BMWs and are ever in Germany, you should make it a point to attend. Unfortunately, cameras are not allowed in the museum.

Occasionally, the PTG Racing F1 GTR '#17R' is displayed at the Zentrum Museum so you may get lucky and see that car when you go.

Correction(s)

#007 is NOT owned by Turner Motorsport - never was. A friend/customer/serious car guy owns the car. He does drive a BMW 325i Touring Car with us. 007 is NOT in the TMS showroom anymore. It was here for winter storage but the owner picked it up a few weeks ago.

That may have been the car/owner from the other thread about a McLaren on Route 9 in Massachusetts. That is something that I can see him doing - he is a very cool guy.

#068's whereabouts is unknown to me at this time. I will post more information if it becomes available. And it is NOT owned by Turner Motorsport.

Now before all of you go lining up along Route 9 for rides, he is in Mosport, Canada this weekend and Lime Rock, CT the following weekend. If any of you are close to Conneticut you might enjoy the Lime Rock race weekend. Lots of cars (including McLaren), friendly atmosphere from fans and teams, and excellent racing. Saturday night is a big party and Sunday (no racing) there is a car show.

BMW North America owns the 017R McLaren GTR. PTG is the caretaker. They keep several significant BMW racecars in storage and for promotional events. Any BMW-sponsored event usually has a cool racecar or two in attendance and PTG's people are there as well.

Sorry, nothing new. Those pictures that you have are pretty old so I'm not sure what the story is behind it.

The race is on Monday, May 26. There is racing througout the weekend. Except for Sunday which is an import car day. Look for lots of cool cars including a few New Minis. And maybe a McLaren?

Tuner and cars

007, 068, and an LM are owned by Frank Selldorf, a .commer in MA. Blue Sky and other companies. I understand the LM is here under S&D, how that is possible must make for an interesting story.
068 was approved a couple of months ago under S&D after it had been withdrawn first my the original owner, Alfredo Brenner, and then withdrawn by Frank.

He owns two cars, not three. You still up to your old tricks, gerd?

For the record, I have seen other information to support Seldorff's ownership of the three cars as well. Drew from Turner was trying to find out what the status was on the LM for a long time for me.

What I would be most curious about is how #068 got through S&D since it wouldn't meet the EPA OBD-II standards for post 1996 cars ???
