Skip Shift Eliminater???

I have a WS6 and i need to know what exactly does the cags skip shift eliminater do for performance and dont tell me that it allows me to shift from 1st to 2nd cause i have a manual shift 6 speed and i can do that anyway. They say the skip shift only allows you to shift from 1st to 4th at low throtle although i can shift form 1st to 2nd any time i want so i dont get it.

.

Yeah can someone please explain "skip shift" in full detail I don't own a manual and I've always heard about this when it came to cars like the Firebird and the Viper.

Skip shift is this: during a certain amount of throttle or RPM in 1st gear, a light will come on, the "skip shift". This will ONLY allow you to go shift from 1-4, or 1-3, 2nd is locked out.

The skip shift eliminator gets rid of that. The light will remain, but anytime in 1st gear, even when the light is on, you can still get into 2nd.

yea but dude i still dont get it. think about it i mean i can shift from 1st to 2nd anytime i want even when the skip shift light comes on. its not like i try to shift into 2nd gear and it wont let me. so it seems pointless to me since i dont have an auto and i can manualy shift into any gear i want anytime

You may already have a skip-shift eliminator on your car, and not know it. It's very obvious when you're not accelerating fast enough, because for several seconds, you cannot put the car into 2nd gear, it just won't let you. It's part of what GM had to do to make the cars legal in California for emissions.

i think its something like less then 24 percent throttle and it will come on but you have to be at a certain speed.....

IMO, skip-shift is the dumbest option GM came up with. Supposedly, it's good for fuel efficiency, but it is so annoying because at that certain throttle it kicks in and you don't have the control of shifting into 2nd. It has already tripped me up at certain times... I am eventually investing in some product to eliminate it (there are several out there and not expensive).
