all swaps are pretty much the same for reliability, it's Honda, so it'll last, unless you start goin' crazy and do LSVTEC or CRVTEC, those swaps don't last nearly as long.

there is no "reliable" swap with you behind the wheel. I know you too well. Just look at the RX7, uh huh. That's what I thought. For the money, D series is the best swap for the money. That is until your bearings fail and you can't help but to buy forged rods, pistons, new bearings, rings, yadda yadda bull shit. Reliability is all an issue of maintenance and tuning.

Quality of Finish

There's a 'quality of finish' problem imbedded in this question. Sure, you can pop whatever motor you can find or make mounts for into anything you want. But most Hondas come from the factory with few squeaks and creaks.
I've heard complaints from those that swapped the B16 into their cars that there are lots more rattles and vibrations. The engineers at Honda are very conservative. Look at all the little devices holding down every single wire in five places in the engine bay, so that nothing vibrates against anything else.
Those engineers try to make the car VERY quiet. When something is making noise, it's rubbing against something else, causing wear and annoyance. If it's a wire that rubs through, you get a short. If it's a hose that rubs through, you get a coolant leak or all your refrigerant goes PFFFT! and you have to pay someone over $100 to put it back in.
I would like to hear more about these issues from those that have put lots of miles on their swapped engines.
Here's an example: I haven't done a swap, but I do have a cold air intake. One day, the car sounded great. Turned out the clamp holding the intake had slipped, and the car was sucking air, bypassing the filter. Honda engineers would get fired (or at least deeply shamed) for stuff like that, but we put up with it all the time.
