Doyusha Lancia Stratos HF 1/12

Hello,
today im starting a new modelkit.
Its a Lancia Stratos from Doyusha.

Here is a pic who it should look like at the end.

This kit was bought partially started.
Some bodyparts are painted, but now removed.
The engine was glued together and some of the interiour parts also.

One color are really hard to remove,so i think i must use sandingpaper for that color.

Some of the parts are broken, but nothing that not can be repaired by a modelbuilder.

...expect the frontwindow. The window is broken in two parts,so i must do a new one by myself.

Here are some bodyparts lay onto the chassis.
This is also the next step.Testing the fitting of all bodyparts and make them open to show the parts inside.

Enough for today.

Kind Regards
Christian

Like you'll see the Doyusha/Nitto Stratos has wrong rear fenders for both wide versions: they're in one average shape between the smooth Alitalia/Marlboro fenders and the Group 4 Pirelli/Olio Fiat/ Chardonnet versions.

Looks like you choose the 1976 works versions, with fenders like the Pirelli cars..... I'll follow.

With mine I'm still not sure if build a Olio or Pirelli Group 4 version or even a 74 Marlboro, with smooth fenders... we'll see

Yep, yet another 1/12th kit that is incorrect and that the manufacturer couldn't be bothered to rectify! I really wanted to build mine as the '77 Monte car (as advertised on the box!!!) Wings wrong, Alitalia decals too small for the rear wings, wrong airbox, no front spare wheel/tyre etc. They obviously just printed new decals for their previous '76 safari kit release - wouldn't have killed them to go that extra mile? It won't worry Capri-S I'm sure, but it bugs me!

Re: Doyusha Lancia Stratos HF 1/12

I had a Japanese car modeling manual magazine from the early 1990's where there a feature article of this kit and all the modifications to the body, chassis, interior and even wheels where shown to make an accurate scale model replica, the work to be done was/is extensive but when finished you will have a beautiful and correct miniature replica. I gave the magazine to a friend and now can't find it anywhere....it was made by Hobby Japan Magazine under the line-up publication "Car Modeling Manual Series"

I wanted(still do!!) to build this car in this scale some day but for what this model kit price is going in the market and then all the work to be done in fabrication and corrections have put it in the "on hold list" for the moment.

Yeah I saw one of these on ebay the other day, the seller was asking $230 for it. After some research I came across the same issues on other forums, quite a bit of work required to get it looking right... etc.

Re: Doyusha Lancia Stratos HF 1/12

Hi,

a little progress.

Im working on the fitting of the bodyparts. Its still a long way to go.

Here is a little gap between mainpart and the rearhood.I will fix it with 2k carputty.

The rearhood is open and shows the engine.....when its done.

The fitting of the fronthood is also in my to do pile.
I destroyed the hinges when im cleaning the parts. So i must do a selfconstruction hinge.

Meanwhile im decieded to do the Pirelli Stratos.
Its not so easy to color because he has semigloss balck parts and the rest is shiny.
I must think a while how i will color this?

Kind Regards
Christian

Other than colouring, are you going to modify the rear fender too?

Great livery: following mine in 1/24 for the livery steps: I just painted it with zero matt acryls, followed by gloss clear and Vallejo satin for the matt areas.

Why?

I just wondering why i modify the fender?
Do you have some pics of a ohter fender.
I dont know what you mean.
I have a lot of pics from the pirelli car,but i dont think there is a ohter fender.Only the hood over the rearwindow is a little bit more open.

Are there more changes between the cars?

Kind Regards
Christian

. have a look at the Pirelli fender you posted, have a look at your model: you'll take 1 second to understand that they are two different things....

Re: Doyusha Lancia Stratos HF 1/12

There aren't Pirelli versions with different fenders than those you posted. There are just 3 kind of fenders for the Group 4 Stratos:

- the narrow one (Safari)
- the intermediate (Chardonnet, Pirelli, Olio Fiat, Concessionari are just the most famous, and much others minor and the '76 Works Alitalia)
- the "smooth fender": Just 74 Marlboro and 75>77 Alitalia works machines

My opinion is that the 1/12 Nitto/Doyusha fenders are wrong for any of them: it need to be smoothed and shaped for the Alitalia/Marlboro, and it need to be lower and different for the Pirelli/Olio etc.

If you have other info please share them, but "big fenders" say me nothing than something around the Turbos... may be you are meaning a "track" Stratos?

Re: Doyusha Lancia Stratos HF 1/12

Question:
Did some one know a shop where i can buy replacement decals for the stratos?
I mean the pirelli version.
If you know a shop, please let me know.
If there are only the pirelli logo in the right size,itīs ok.
Thanks!

Hi gionc,

now i know what you mean.

Im trying to change the fender into the right shape.
Its not so easy that i thought, but im on the way.
Maybee tommorow i can show some pice from the original side with wrong fender and from the other side with the selfmade made fender.
I think my version is not 100percent perfect, but it looks better than the Doyusha one.

Kind Regards
Christian

Re: Doyusha Lancia Stratos HF 1/12

Hello,

after the great victory our german soccer team its a pleasure to work on the lancia. Here the actually looking rear fender.

Now here you can see what Doyusha thought about the fenders. :?

After gionc told me that the fenders are wrong,im looking at some pics from the original car.

Doyusha made the fenders really wrong and i decided to make it better.
Its not perfect, but its good enough now.
Im only must made the same changes to the otherside.

Kind Regards
Christian
