240sx VS. eclipse gs turbo

ok, right before i turn down a straight-away type street, i see this badass looking eclipse. at the stop light he was about one car length ahead of me and in the other lane. when the light switched he tried swurving in the other lane and i noticed that he had real nice acceleration off the line. his license plate read "GS TURBO" and he had a real nice taillight setup. he had one passenger that he was probably showing off his car too... after about 10 sec i turned in the other lane to get ahead of the car ahead of me and then went back in my lane. the eclipse was doing about 35 (speed limit) and i was doing about 45 to catch up to him. with no one around us and a dead street, i approached right next to him and let the acceleration fall until i was dead even with him and doing about 35. i held my breath and mashed on the gas... if you've ever heard my car it sounds nasty from a standstill to jamming, it's very loud. the eclipse jammed down too, and after about 5 sec i was 4 or 5 car lengths ahead of him and i heard his turbo loudly start to spool up and whistle. over the next 7 or 8 sec he gained only about 2 car lengths from his previous spot and was still behind me about 2 car lengths, then he started to slow down and i knew he gave up. i could then see his face around the next stop light drop to a drool and he was wondering why this lil import beater killed him.

note this was before i installed my header, cat, and lowering springs and before i got my current tires, i was using goodyear eagle all-around 195/60/15 tires (non performance).

this was my best kill so far.

Good kill he might have not really had a turbo though their are too many F&F want to be's rolling around in eclipses. What kind of modd's you have

haha yea i know. that's why i was so surprised.... every once in a while when i slam on the gas i get a REALLY REALLY good jump. it's like god is shining a light on me, lol.

i also took a tiburon gt that goes 0-60 in 5.8, but that was from a roll of about 45mph. i took him only 1 time out of like the 10 times we mashed on the gas, it was one fastass car.

the only time an auto will REALLY not be too good is from a standstill. from a roll it picks up nicely. if i'd convert it to a stick i'd be in the 14's.

well if it wasn't a turbo, it prolly woulda costed him more to do the whole look conversion.

also i was going to do a manual swap but dont want to spend the cash.

anyone know of any internal shifters for an auto? i heard those can do wonders... my one friend told me about it but i couldnt remember what it was.

dude if the eclipse didn't beat you with turbo it was not turboed I bet you anything it was a fake blow off valve. The eclipse is a beautiful car and when turboed is even more pretty. The 240sx stock has a great amount of power just like the stock integra, 140hp. you said the your wheels were stock when you raced him but was everything else stock or did you have everything put in it besides the wheels. The eclipse is the same way 140 horses. So if this guy had a real turbo he would have smashed you. Unless of course the driver had no fucking clue what he was doing. You do weight les then him but with a real turbo he should have beaten you. Unless of course it was the fake blow off valve.

trust me i seen it spin out from the light a few sec before the race, it was fairly fast. 0-60 prolly in the 6's.

it must have been a complete bone stock turbo eclipse, i think those run 1/4 mi in 15.5 for an auto or something like that. im assuming it was an auto since i didn't see the car jag forward when we raced like a stick usually does.

yea i think it was def a turbo, i cant see a person changing the whole taillights, body, and, GET THIS, a license plate,... wouldn't that cost a lot more than just buying a turbo? from a roll my car has beat lots of low 15 cars, and i kept just about even with a rsx on the hiway. that's from a roll.... it does hi 15s from a standstill (do to my pokey auto tranny...).

the mods i did to my car at the time were: injen intake & extension, exhaust, iridium plugs and wires, walbro fuel pump and filter. basically everything i have now but without the header, hi flow cat and tires.

i gotta get a digi vidcam.... that would be sweet i would just permanently mount it on my car


edit: also, i raced the gs's before, they are slow. i would have kept pulling on it if it wasnt a turbo and i would have taken him by 8 or 10 car lengths.

Hey nismo, my stage 1 G-box re-maps the ECU to make the transmission shift harder when under hard acceleration. You might look into that. I too have an automatic transmission.

i dont want to spend over 400 on the shifter thing. how much did that improve your 0-60 time??

also, here's my car before and after i dropped it. i dont think it went down the full 2" as stated by intrax but it does look better.
