Speedometer doesn't work.. can't get the pin into hole behind the gauge

i took off my gauges too see if i wanted to tackle the task of putting in new gauges... after i put the gauges back in the speedometer/odometer/trip odometer dont work and the engine light came on...

after that i took it back apart again and noticed that there is a little pin that sticks out and rotates when you drive to show the car how fast you are driving that you have to line up with this hole on the back off the speedometer, except its all dark and i cant see how to fit the pin into it... if the car notices that you are driving but the odometer isnt going would that be what caused the engine light to go on? i checked the oil and its full so thats not why the light is on...

buy a new gaugle cluster ... you fucked that shit up

and yes, the odometer not working is most likely the cause for the check engine light.

The check engine light is on because the speedometer isn't functioning right. As the speedometer runs the odometer, trip odomtere, and the cruise control, none of those features will work.

ok i took off the clear plastic facing of the gauge cluster and was able to fit plenty of my hand behind the gauge cluster and got the cable into the back of the speedometer but the piece of shit still doesnt work, the tach, temp gauge, and gas gauge all work, all but the damn speedometer... checked every fuse on the panel, foot panel and under the hood so its not that...

Lightbulb Speedo

Hey there. I had the same problem. I disconnected the cable from the tranny and pushed more length into the dash area. Then I could hook it up properly and push the cable back through to the tranny. Hope it helps
