Ok, so this morning when I get into my car to drive to work I notice that my Max is not working right. It doesn't want to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. And even after it gets in 3rd, it still kinda pulses like it is not sending constant power to the wheels. Any advice on what is wrong and what I should do about it? Or do I just need to take it into a shop. And if I take it into a shop, how bad is it going to cost me (worst case)?
This is not what I needed right now. |

Ok, so I take it to autozone and I get them to read the codes and this is what I find.
P0325 (Knock Sensor) P0301 (Cyl 1 Misfire) A few months ago I was getting a code more multiple cylinders misfiring and it turned out to be a bad coilpack on cylinder #2 so I am wondering if this is just a left over problem from that. Would a cylinder misfiring cause anything to go wrong with the knock sensor? And with both of those going wrong, would that affect my engine power and my transmission? I remeber last time I had an engine problem the transmission did get a little sluggish. ANy help would be apreciated.... |

I would replace the knock sensor, see how it goes, then troubleshoot the 0301 to see if the coilpack is the problem. The ECU goes into what I call "safe mode" to compensate for the codes in question and to make the car driveable. I would fix these issues before doing anything to the transmission beside checking the fluid level. I had the cyclinder misfire code (think it was on two) and my Maxima drove like s__t until it was fixed. In my case it turned out to be the coilpack. Just my two cents.

Quote:
The knock sensor code appears as a ghost code almost always with anything that involves emissions or ignition. Do not replace the KS until you fix the misfire. Once the misfire is fixed the KS code will go away.
