GEORGE, anyone. What is the redline on P10's?
OK, I read in Motor Trend and Road & Track it is 7500 for the 1995 P10's. My 1996 G20 has a 7500 redline, yet I just saw a picture of a 1995 G20 with a 7200 redline. I am in a debate in another post reagarding redlines on P10's and I am now completely confused.
What is the story? If possible a complete layout of redlines and specific years they were set. Is the 7200 ONLY automatics? And the 7500 Manuals? If so, why? 7200, 7500, 7000, 6800 Look here 1991 P10: ![]() 1995 P10: And another 1995 P10: ![]()

Let me rephrase it. Only SR20DE vehicles sold in the USA between '91 and '96. Hope that shortens the scope of my question.

The automatics had a 7250 Redline, manuals a 7500 Redline.

Incidently, how does the ECU typically handle the redline? I'm not pushing mine there just to find out, but I took a 94 p10 for a test drive once and when I hit the redline it just cut the fuel, nasty... Not the most elegant way...

If you really want a heart attack, hit the redline in a borrowed race car because you forgot to shift! ![]() Happened to me. At Texas World Speedway, you can use 2nd or 3rd gear out of the esses leading onto the front straight. I find I hit 4th at exactly the same place either way (I'm sure it has to do with the torque ranges). Anyway, I used 2nd to blast past some backmarkers and just forgot to shift. I about had a heart attack. I was already doing calculations about how much it was going to cost me when I quickly realized it was the rev limiter. :jump:

Yeah the SR20 has a very hard fuel cut. Almost feels like you hit a tree or something. Scared the crap out of me a couple times.
I like the fuel cut in the Miadas. Nice and soft. I went for a ride in one at an auto cross one time. He'd just let the thing bounce off the rev limiter all day. Damn if I tried that in the G there'd be nothing left. |
