Sweet cars

I saw a older like 80's lotus esprit and a brand new Maserati Coupe yesterday here in town and I dident have my digi cam  the Lotus was here at work so maybe I can see it again and have my cam I hope I will see the Maserati again. if you lived in Columbus GA you would know how cool this was. the worst part, I was with 2 friends who car nothing about cars, so I was the only one who cared

That is the worst! :o I'm always the rubber-necker in the car, and no one else cares.

me: 'Oh wow! A red Ferrari 360 Modena going 75 mph in the opposite direction! '
them: 'Meh. '

They're only cars - and boring uninteresting cars at that. Perhaps if it were a Subaru Maia, or a Yugo Cabrio, or Hienkel Kabine, or well anything rare or interesting then it'd be different, I can go to the Ferrari dealer and stare at those pieces of tin all day if I had no life, but I'll never see a Fuldamobil N2 in a showroom anyday!

I always remember driving around Auckland with a few acomplises from work- I was always the only car lover in the group- so whenever Ferraris went past or Lambos or whatever- I'd always be like "WOAH!!!! There goes $500,000 worth of Maranello muscle!!!" To which thier reply would be- "Who cares- you just missed the turn" But then again those guys were boring middle aged bankers who drove Mondeos and Maximas

Of course my current staff in Italy all love cars

1. Seeing a car on the road is a different experience than looking at one in a showroom.
2. Just because you can name cars more rare than Ferraris, etc., doesn't mean that a Ferrari 'out of captivity' isn't also rare.

I might remind you that your Subarus and Yugos are 'only cars' as well...

In my own case, I'm usually more impressed to see an NSX on the road than a Ferrari. Of course, I'm a bit car-spoiled around here...

They only made 70 yugo cabrios, as of yet I haven't seen one in person, so I'd definately take a look. I know that there are probably people who have never seen a real Ferrari out on the road before, but I have so it doesn't excite me.

I know how you feel. Today in New York city, I saw a 911 turbo, a 911 GT2 (!!) who reved his engine and I nearly fell over from joy, AND a BMW Z8. I could hardly pick up my mouth and everone else was just like, so?

I can't tell if you're generalising or not. Or rather, to what extent. Modern Ferrari; granted. Would, say..., a 1961 Ferrari 250GT California next to you elicit the same non-response?

Or a 250LM or a 250 GTO for that matter

I frequent classic car shows, usually the Ferraris don't elicite much emotion from me, but that doesn't mean I haven't taken the occaisional picture - I'd much rather look at Fiat 600s, and VW type 3's, also, lately alot of rich people have been moving out where I am (to live in the "country") so I've been seing more and more modern "super" cars too, I guess it's something you can grow tired of eventually.
