Now this is a wing! [Sweet car inside]

Winner of the 2001 Virgina City Hill Climb. It's a RUF CTR 2 that ran a 3:19 up the hill which is crazy fast. The pic and story is from http://www.NSXfiles.com which is a really cool racing website that this guy writes. He has a NSX with a s/c and now NOS and his friend has a 944 with a turbo. Check out the stories because i've read almost every one now and i've learned a lot.

Besides that hideous multi-story wing, tht's a sweet car. if you took off the top half it would look better but, I do know that Porsche is synonomous with having ridiculously large wigns for aerodynamical pruposes.

Iwas trying not to go to much into that cause if you say it's a good car without the wing, I defeats the purpose of the picture. I wonder what aerodynamic purpose it has, like does it literllay prevent the car from rising anything over .1 mm off the ground? even F1 cars aren't that bad, but it won so I am not critising the owner, he godd probably rub that in people's faces who disliked the wing after the race.

Looks like the guy simply has more than enough money to buy a car faster than anyone else, just enough skill to keep it on the road, and absolutly NO TASTE! That wing is hideous. It probobly slowed him down through Drag more than aided in Down Force, It would have to be a very open Hill Climb before the car got fast enough to make use of that kind aerodynamic aid.

Don't most hill climb cars have retarded wings? Look at the Escudo. If he's using it for racing, it must be helping. Otherwise, you can reat assured he'd take it right back off. I'd love to see it in action.

It depends largly on the Course. The Escudo is only intended for running up Pikes Peak which by Hill Climb standards is a very FAST open course, meaning the cars where able to obtain speeds where things like wings became effective.
However when the Escudo was last raced down here in the Queenstown Gold rush which is a much tighter and bumber course it was beaten by a slightly modified WRC inprezza.

who said the car was ugly?
a car is not ugly b/c it has an unattractive wing... it is ugly b/c it is ugly... the pinto was an ugly car. a porsche at all is not an ugly car. i think that wing is over kill, but either section would look good alone... the bottom half is genuine ruf, and if you saw it from the front, you would see that the sections that attach to the fender have openings in them to create a ramair effect for the motor... eithe way... i would drive it just for the looks i would get... hehehe
