The 2005 Ford Mustang is cool but, c'mon...

a solid rear axle in the 21st century?

Why?

The new Mustang will be a dime a dozen in a year or so which is why Mercury should take the new Mustang's chassis and restyle it to help themselves.

here are stats from a recent Car & Driver comparo of the 05 Mustang GT and the 05 Pontiac GTO.
the mustang is on the left and the GTO is on the right

0-60 mph 5.1 4.8

0-100 mph 13.0 11.7

0-130 mph 25.6 19.6

1/4-mile @ mph 13.8 @ 103 13.3 @ 107














The bottom line is that the more V-8-powered muscle cars, the better. Period.

Unfamiliar with Pontiac GTO velocity, but around 2001 an AU car magazine tested the base-model V8 Monaro CV8 LS1, then rated @ 'only' 305hp. At Avalon airfield in absolutely stock-standard trim it recorded 172mph

How does that compare to new Mustang? Or any OE Mustang?

(2005s are faster: Monaro LS1 now rated @ 349hp, HSV GTO LS2 is 400hp)

whats ur point... i was a lil off... but u were still WRONG. the GTO that i said the mustang barely loses to has the 6.0... which is not a 5.7 which i said it beats. and either way my argument doesnt change. and i did explain myself well... u just didnt know that the 400hp motor wasnt the 5.7 obviously, or u would have understood it. so i dont know how im looking foolish... u need to put brand loyalties aside here and not get pissed off.

if u look at road&track numbers u will see the mustang clocked at faster times than those posted too. it has 0-60 under 5 seconds.

The 2007-2008 Pontiac GTO will be built here and redesigned.

They should give it styling that looks as good as the 2006 Pontiac Solstice.

Show me were I said the LS1 made 400 horsepower. I think you'll find I was refering to the LS2 and were was I wrong?. Show me were I gave you wrong information ?. I am not pissed off. I am just sick and tired of people shuving there opinions down other members throats like they know better and you using cubes as defense for it being faster is as lame as LS1 F-body owners using a supercharger to do the same about the Cobra. Your the one that is being biased. I never said that the GTO was the end all of performance cars. I said it makes alot of power which it does and looks are in the eye of the beholder which they are. Now either prove me wrong or lets just agree to disagree..

I can't believe the Mustang and GTO are even being compared. Different class of cars...

The 2004 GTO makes more power to the wheels, but is slower than the 2005 Mustang. Actually, I would call it a drivers race.
The 2005 GTO also makes more power to the wheels, and should beat the 2005 Mustang down the track.

Let's keep it even here, even though we are comparing cars in two different classes. 2005 Vs. 2005, or 2004 Vs. 2004....

But an '03 Mustang Cobra (for example) had MORE hp than '01 Monaro (305hp 172mph)

im not gonna ge tinto interior i dont know anything about that. show me where i said that u said the ls1 made 400 hp? i said the 4.6 beat the GTO with a 5.7, meaning the ls1 with 350hp, and i said it barely loses to the 400hp ls2, the 6.0 as u corrected me, when i said 7.0 i was thinking of the ls7 in the z06. what my whole point here was is not to say one car is better than the other, i was saying that GM is obviously doing something wrong here if a 5.7 is being beaten by a 4.6, thats a huge displacement difference.

lol to tell u the truth i dont even know what the manaro is, but it sounds like its probably lighter and more aerodynamical, but i dont really know how fast a cobra tops out, do you, that actually makes me kinda curious about that. also talking about interior... im going OT but my friend just bought a 05 stratus, man that thing has a awesome interior.
