Re: Yamaha Tech 3 + Laguna Seca

Andrea - the Tech3 bike is beautiful - the paint is like glass - excellent detail without going overboard. The exhaust heat staining is not too much and looks very realistic. Your clear and finish polish and wax is evident of your skills. One thing though - slicks "tyres" never have a molding rib down the center - If it was mine I would lightly sand down the rubber flash and then apply a small amount of "oil" to the rubber to make it shiny like a new set of slicks. I would use a light cooking oil to get the shine back. New slicks do have a glistening shine to them that we used to use a "tyre" compound to wash off before we put on "tyre" warmers and went on the track. - John

Re: Yamaha Tech 3 + Laguna Seca

Thank John , I discussed about molding rib on the italian forum. I know that it is there, but when I sanded the rib it seemed to be like... recessed... and I was afraid to overdone with sandpaper and change the shape of the tire. Usually I airbrush satin/flat clear on the rubber

Andrea - what happened to the tyres set that had the white band on the sidewall with the bridgestone from the first page? also how did you do that - did you have a template? or did you mask it? - also I understand your dilemma about the tyres and the molding rib- John

Hello John
that tires are for the Laguna Seca version. I installed them on my dremel and spinned them slowly. With a thin brush I used an acrylic flat white to paint the band. Let only the brush to touch the whell and the rotation make the job...

Re: Yamaha Tech 3 + Laguna Seca

Thanks to Mask which sent me the correct, white, semakin writing and thanks to Mauro which send me a spare couple of 46 numbers.
The rear cowl is ready to a soapy wash and clear process

I noticed a decal on the right side is missing. Going to place it....

Re: Yamaha Tech 3 + Laguna Seca

Finally yesterday I clear coated the rear cowl with 2K..... I can't believe it....
I used a thin layer of aeromaster clear paint below instead of tamiya, just to test it.

Looks like everything turned out okay Andrea? was there a problem with the way the clear went on? I don't see any issues that cannot be fixed?? - John
