Re: took out a kid at my shcool
Last time I went to the drag strip, I saw a crapload of old domestics with gigantic motors running in the 7's...the only fast 6-cylinders I saw were a Supra running low 8's and a Grand National running low 7's...and the fastest 4-cylinder I saw was a highly-tuned Civic running low 10's...so I think it's obvious what the best choices are for drag racing. You need V8 power to compete. Even if you do have to spend a lot to get it to run, you'll still have the fastest car at the strip.

Re: took out a kid at my shcool

read what you've posted, it's not at all entirely clear. which is WHY i asked YOU to clarify. which you did. thank you. i'm sure i'm not the only one who was ready to raise the BS flag b/c everything wasn't congruent. |

or what your PERSONAL preference is... if i don't want to own and race a v8, then it's not the best option, is it? |

Ok guys i dont think the setup i have now will be able to run at 1400+hp but i have subframe connectors that i have fully welded on and there are these cheap ass ones i bought first that mount on the top of the wheel well and then mount to the fire wall. I have beffed up suspension all around i have heavy duty shocks in the front (dont know what brand bought them at napa) and then i have 70/30 street drags shocks in the back plus new leaf springs. Its got a brand new front sway bar and new bushings. If i actually went all out i was watching a TV show and they had a 69 nova (almost same setup as mine 68-72 novas where practically al the same). The project car was a draged out 69 they called it project super chevy nova they bought a full roll cage that mounted to the front clip then went back throught he fire wall and mounted to the back frame through the floor boards then contiuned back and went all the way to the back of the trunk were it mounted to the back of the frame. They put a n/a 572 which is the new motor chevy makes (i think im not sure if it;s chevy that makes it). So if i put about 2 grand more into my nova i think i could get it to hold together but im not sure, i dont want to end up as a pretzel laying on the track. Tell me what you guys think would happpen or any comments.

jonnyboy9012 if you think building a 1400hp or even a 700hp car is that cheap. then we would see 700hp cars all over the street. how many of them do you know of? how many of htem do you see driving around the streets? i mean its only $5800 dollars. who needs any other cars if its that cheap to build a car that fast.

Were u at and event race?? Cause those times you are seeing are ProStock times. And Those arent ordinary V8's. Those are well built crate engines. And a 10 sec 4 cylinder is damn impressive |

Re: took out a kid at my shcool
Time's are getting lower for everyone.
I have a buddy with a crx with an all motor lsvtec that will run 11's once he gets the bugs out and its a street car. hes gone 12.3's so far and for him it wasent costly he built the motor himself and the car was cheap

Re: took out a kid at my shcool
that project super nova also had a full cage, big ace slicks, a fuel cell, and a 502 pushing out massive hp...
you need some light weight wheels on that puppy, makes a difference, and get REAL slicks, you'll be surprised. |

3000GTracer: I was at a test and tune at the LVMS drag strip...I don't know what ProStock is, but the cars definitely had heavily modified engines.
flywlsi: A V8 is the best option of you want to win drag races. |

Re: took out a kid at my shcool
no need actions like that mooch. one "little shithead" was enough.
