they actually need the products you're talking about, as they use them and attain the speeds necessary to do so.

who cares what a riced out civic has on it?

i'm just amazed that since you don't understand how the items on a car like an evo or sti work, they're ricey.

or b/c some ricer had them on an underpowered civic, they MUST be riced out on an evo...
Like it or not though, those riced out civics messed it up for everyone. Now a huge wing, functional or not, may be associated with rice. Just b/c it came that way stock, doesn't mean that it can't resemble those riced out cars. I don't think the car looks bad, I like it. I'm just saying that I understand what people say when they say it looks ricey.

no.

b/c that's ignorant.
Hey this was a strictly mustang vs Ricer thing why you have to bring the Camaro's and Firebird's in on it and if your going to at least just bring up the Camaro and leave the Firebird's alone

Judging by quick's extensive knowledge of the evo... he could have very well raced an ES or OZ Rally Lancer.

Good to know, but that really sucks for me.

Re: 5.0 Stang Spanks a EVO

Actually, I am not a super fan of the fox body cars except that they are cheap and easy to build into a fast machine. Of all imports that is truly cool is the supra, excellent design and maximum performance in a clean looking package. What I mean by ricers is a huge cheap a$$ spoiler, column mounted gauges, a 8" monster tach, tons of useless stickers, and neon lights that don't make a car any faster. No offense intended to the true performance fanatics out there or the tasteful tuners. This brings us back to the true spirit here, run what you brung, either it is fast or it isn't. No excuses, no bs'ing, get on the strip (or street) and race. It also is foolish of people to expect a stock car they roll of the dealer lot could match a machine custom assembled from the ground up (literally, from the tires to the roof, including built motor and trans) for performance. Just cause people blow $25k on a car doesn't mean it is going to smoke other machines on the road, as you can tell I root for the thrifty but intelligent backyard mechanic. With that, rock on and hit the strip.

Re: 5.0 Stang Spanks a EVO

And on the subject of being a mullet wearing redneck I am actually a 20 year old college student going to school for Biochemistry/Pre-Med @ UW Madison. It is fascinating to see how liking domestic machines is immediately associated with red-neck ness. It is also too bad to see the import hating crowd unable to appreciate a fast and good looking import too.

Re: 5.0 Stang Spanks a EVO

what is your problem, exactly?
did i say that I, personally, associate mustangs and rednecks?
no. but it happens.
the same way that ignorant people associate ricers with big wings, or loud import exhausts, or neon underbody kits.

i could care less how old you are, what you do, or how long your hair is.
you seem to want to tear down import owners for preferring a fwd car to rwd.
does it matter what's faster?
not really.

it matters about what people like, themselves.
do we disrespect rwd or muscle cars?
no.

don't hate on import people for their preferred drive wheels, or their preferred engine size.
especially when they can outrun you.

The car I raced was a Lancer EVO with a Two stage aftermarket wing that sat about 18 inches above the trunk of the car. I do not think it was factory as it was black and looked like a different composit material than the car. It looked almost fiberglass. I have looked at other EVO's on the web and the one I raced looked alot like this one on ebay. Even had the same type of hood scoop and wheels.

Here is the link... Let me know if this is the EVO everyone is referring to or if I raced something else...

Re: 5.0 Stang Spanks a EVO

Yep that's an EVO 1Quick91. Mine looks better IMO. I don't doubt your story, I just think that you downplay imports too much. I'm sure that you haven't run into a fast DSM or EVO yet. Otherwise you'd have alot more respect for the car. No biggie.

ehhhh 1quick91, that wing comes on a stock evo, and that wing is indeed functional and adjustable, and the deck on that wing is indeed made of a different material, but its not cheap fiberglass, it is actually true carbon fiber. why would they use cheap shit for a performance part for an evo? fiberglass dont' make me laugh, the hood, the fenders, and the suspension is made up of aluminum to save weight as well, includeing those special forged enkie wheels that are forged in a special way where its stronger yet lighter then most other forged wheels, or the brembo 12 piston caliper brake system and the yokahama super advan high grip tires, or the reverse twin scroll TD05-super 16G turbo charger, or the hollowed camshafts or the sodium filled hollowed valves, or the magesium valve cover, or the recaro race seats, or the intercooler spray, or the ram air intake box that you can't see, should i go on?

only thing i don't see on domestics that you mentioned is neon. at the strip up here all i see are super bee's and roadrunners with big A$$ spoilers and stickers all over and column mounted gauges. though most don't have big spoilers, some do. and there stock wings(i think), like the evo-8.

Re: 5.0 Stang Spanks a EVO

I knew this was going to turn in a import vs. domestic war. Too bad. Bottom line is, the guy in the EVO picked on a "sheep in wolves clotihing", and he got his ass handed to him. It happens to domestic owners too. Great kill Quick91.
