i subscribe to both magazines, and i've been reading both magazines for over 3 years, i personally like both SS and SCC. SCC i like reading the technobable, i also love the ultimate street car challenges every year, and they got awesome project cars. i like reading SS for their humor and their japanese tuner car from every issue. i also like magazines on completely stock cars, such as Car and Driver, Motortrend, Road & Track, and Automobile mag. i must've spend over 1000 in magazines int he last 3 years, and this is all only car mags. lolz cause i don't subscribe to anything but SS =( but i buy all the otehr mags for 5 dollars a book each month

My original rant might have been seemed a little more militant than how I intended it to. I had just been "chastised" by an underinformed 17yr old on another forum and I was blowing off a little steam. SS and SCC are great magazines. I still enjoy SCC when it comes in each month and look forward to reading about some guys supercharged Miata. I like all cars really and there is something to be learned from all of them. SS I enjoy there humor but I skim though it then put it back on the magazine rack at Barnes and Noble, just not woth the cash to read humor. So take my comments lightly as this thread is called "240sx newbie vent" I thought I'd vent. Really though I must say that this is still one of the most civil forums I've read . Its nice to have people who are cordial when posting. O.K. I'll shut up now and finish my morning coffee.

i'll second the ricky chu comment. i just roll my eyes every time someone says they idolize ricky or johnny in the letters section. they're just brown-nosing in hopes of winning a t-shirt or something.

I didnt mean that way.

I meant everyone now wants a 240 w.an SR20 and an S15 face.

They think they can be like Takumi, but they'll just crash and ruin a good RWD car, which is slowly dying out.

i think the RWD car might make a comeback. with more people getting into the import car scene and as drifting becomes more popular (even if some of the newer "drifters" are complete idiots), i think the big companies will get the hint and build cars more appealing to the drift enthusiast; assuming the market gets big enough. if nissan started sending the sylvia to the US and put a reasonable pricetag on it, they could probably corner the market of people wanting a car for drifting that's new and they know will be in good shape.

I agree I don't understand what is with kids who want to "rice" cars up as you say. the 240sx is an incredible car at an even more amazing price. I think that if the KA's had less miles on them you would see many more people putting turbo's on them instead of sr20det's. as for all this jdm stuff I must say that it is over rated. I was looking at something the other day and saw JDM 180sx tail lights for $600. that is redicilous, for just a little bit more than that I could buy another 240. I have nothing against making your car perform well and look good, but when your car starts to become gaudy then you have missed the point. I think all this shows is the amazing materialistic nature of people living in a post-modern western culture. some people have way too much money and way too much free time. not that this is bad, it just pains me to see how greedy and self centered we as westeners have become. maybe that should be another post for another forum. by that aside, I must agree that there are way too many kids out there trying to be cool, and using their cars as a venue in which to accomplish that goal. I like 240's because they look good and you get amazing performance for the dollar. will I put an sr20 in my car when my KA kicks the bucket? you better believe it shoot maybe even some s13 silvia head lights, if I can find a coupe at a reasonable price. but until then I love my car just as much as the guy who has $10,000 in his car, and with that money I could make a down payment on a house.

right connections are great, it just baffles me that there are actually people who are willing to pay that much for tail light covers. they are just paying for plastic that is molded a slightly different way which happens to be used on the japanese version of a car sold in america. I'd almost consider buying them for $40 if was was done with my engine work and had extra cash lying around.

you wouldn't pay $325 for a JDM centre piece...but anyways, i like the older style ones better anyways. they look cleaner and more simple.

Ya, I gotta speak to him-yours will be around 5000yen, cuz yours is mint and mine has a nice crack down the middle. Figure around 130-140 for both shipped. Still a good deal. I donno if i'll speak to him in the next couple weeks or so cuz of the war...

hell the first and only time I've laid eyes on S15 lights was awhile back. Was at a carshow out at the dragstrip(Moroso). I was just hoping to see some nice tricked out Nissans and even 240's but I was dissapointed. Then walking across the area towards the end of the day I see something like S15 headlights from afar. It was on an Integra though....this was before I've heard about s15 lights on other cars... so I wasn't too sure. I walked up and the guy was standing in front of his car, upon closer inspection I saw they were indeed S15 headlights, puzzled I asked him, " What kind of headlights are those, how did you get them on an Acura?" he replied with a comical phrase....."I Dunno I saw em and liked em so had a bodyshop do it all" I damn near broke out in laughter in the guys face... didn't even know he had S15 headlights on the front of his Acura.. LMFAO

Wheres that funny picture that says NEWBIES thats what needs to go here
