Re: Best motor to swap into a 4G? B16, B18, B20/vtec, ZC, D16?

i say the zc cause i would give someone props for taking out a honda with a b series engines. i say go origanal (stay with the d series, thats what im doing) but pump it up with lots of mods, i know theres lots of parts out there and heard of people pushing 450whp with a zc, like 4k in parts and work, but thats what its goin to cost ya to get a b series motor in your car.

I don't mean to shatter ur hoped n dreams....but it's gonna take more than 4k to get a zc to over 400 hp. And for your information, I put my B20 for less than 1,800 and that includes the JDM Y1 tranny, new exedy clutch, and a complete rebuild...t-belt, water + oil pumps, gaskets, etc.

I haven't read the whole post but I recommend "Civic Duty" by Alan Paradise. Lots of good info.

I voted for the b20/vtec. Don't know too much about this combo but have heard it has good high rpm power and good torque too. GL

Cant really be original anymore, because there are alot of D series people these days and you just cant be original with the D anymore.

first off the b20 is just as easy as any b series to swap in except for hood clearence. Anyways i would suggest a d16z6 with the zc tranny or an si tranny. I know that was not a choice. If you plan on a b series. I would suggest a b20 because it has the greater displacement.

i don't know i juss like the b18's...another freind of mine has a b16. but you like you said no torque...but its peppy tho.....but promise juss to finish your swap...and don't get thru it and it won't start and juss give up...like more that 80% of the ppl i see do this...finish what you start...then you'll get respect...
