Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599

little updates:

after detailing the interior, it must be wasted if it's not very visible from outside, so i cut the window for a better view, first drill out holes using 0.7mm with a dremel

then some photo-tech rotary saw, carefully saw along the dotted holes

then using photo-etch saw to cut where the rotary saw can't reach

until here it just took me around 15min or less, then i slowly sand till i get the right shape, took me around 1 hour

the result, a better view from outside

rear window had this defroster thing, but it is too thick and block most of the view

especially this angle

so i sand it off using 600, 800, 1200, 2000 then compound with tamiya coarse, fine & finish, took me few hours

i think i will skip the rear diffuser splitter, tried 3 times with no success, a bit demotivated, since i'm ready to start painting

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599

I''d use decal for the rear defroster.

Rear glass looks so much better without those lines. Great polishing job.

Great job opening the windows! and the rear window sanding/polishing resulted great, definitely the interior work deserves a better view!

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599

thanks again guys!

Was test fitting the rear window and realise something weird about it, fit is right but some how there's a gap between the roof and the rear window, then i realise it lack the rubber trim

here's how the real car look like

the kit, a step...need to do something about it

so i cut out some unused sprue, since i dun have the correct styrene sheet, and styrene sheet is white, but the sprue plastic is black, perfect

test fit, looks ok although slightly bigger than the refs

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599

Usually i would use a white background for shooting my cars, but shooting a white car on a white might look boring...so i create a cement floor

i used a cheap note board

glued with 0.3mm styrene sheet, puttied the joint and brush over entire surface with diluted putty for a rough texture

then i spray with tamiya acrylic grey mix with water..the cheapest and roughest way after that randomly overlap some darker grey and also black wash using sponge

looks ok but not very realistic as i do it in a rush

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599

Added some bolts to the chassis, using some PE bolts from LionRoar,

later after painted everything in semigloss black, the bolt head will be scrap off to reveal the bolt head

also i built the wall and redo the cement floor, randomly scratch and dent the surface, then patch with putty and sand over with 400 grit, then spray again with gray acrylics, some black wash and highlight randomly with lighter gray using drybrush.

although i realise the texture's scale a bit too large for 1/24

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599

Was test fitting the brake light because i worried after several coat of paint it wouldn't fit, but i broke it when trying to remove it out

1st thought was scratch built from red sprue, but look at the thickness, i don't want to spend several hours of sanding and then break it again

so i tried using epoxy mix with smoke clear, since i want it to be smoke like the novitec's version instead of clear red, but doesn't came out nice

2nd attempt using clear pvc

cut into small strip

because it is thin, i need to insert 3 times to get the right thickness, looks ok, now i just need to paint it without scratching it during final assembly

also i test fit the signal lamp, and realise it sit too inside

solution, thinned down the body thickness

looks better now

try carbon fiber the steering column, quite tricky because of the small size

size compare to 10 cent, honestly the CF wasn't visible if u don't look really close

last check the body, it's good to start painting
