another update. I decided to work on those sidepipes. man they are crappy, they come molded in two pieces and dont fit together very good leaving big gaps.

but after much filling and sanding and priming i think i got them looking pretty good. now to chrome them up!

one last one for tonight. i tried a new method of making chrome. and i think it works very well. and is cheap.

keep in mind this pipe is not finished, i need to add a wash, and add heat stains. maybe another coat of chrome still!

let me know what you think.

and this is what i used

Re: Shelby Cobra (progress)

That Dupli Color chrome looks very convincing...and Ill bet it cost a whole lot less, and easier to use than Alcad.
Great finish on the body also. Thing this is gonna be real stunner.

Re: Shelby Cobra (progress)

Those pipes looking good. That chrome looks good too, but like Skylinefan says, don't handle it too much. I used it on some exhaust tips and it seems like it never dried completely.

im not sure why yours didnt dry?? i painted that at about 11 this morning, its now 1:30am, and it completly dry, just as dry as the paint on the body. i pressed on it and it left no finger print or anything.

maybe you put on to heavy a coat? i put on 3 mist coats, each was dry before i put on the next one.

Well glad yours worked out, I did spray 2 light coats, even though it does spray kida heavy out the can. I could rub my finger on it lightly, after 5 days, and still get paint on my finger. I figured it was just that it is an Enamel paint. Maybe I just got a bad/old can.

I'll have to get another can and give it a second chance cause thoose pipes look great.

Fantastic work so far! Great work on the car. And that chrome is great, too.
