Here's some pics of my latest modifications to make my AMT '66 Mustang Fastback look like the one Year One built this year. The engine in the 1:1 is supercharged. The AMT Phantom Vicky motor is not, but I'm slowly making it look like the real one.

I relocated the throttle body to the rear of the intake and placed an air cleaner from an AMT Torino Talladega on top.

I have an air cleaner from an AMT 1968 Shelby GT500 that has the Cobra logo but is a little small. I'm gonna work with it some more to see if I can get it to fit.

I got a resin teardrop hood from PSF Hobbies. I have opened up the rear opening of the scoop. They will be filled with photoetch honeycomb grill material.

Stay tuned for futher updates.

Update: 11/27/2004

Getting lots of little details completed on the 'Stang. Starting with the interior, I removed the center console to duplicate the look of the 1:1 car. If any of you have never worked on 40 year old styrene it sure is hard!!! None of this soft stuff like the new AMT kits. Here's a pic of the 1:1's interior:

The interior bucket on the right is from the current edition of the '66 hardtop. I still have a little finishing work on the tunnel near the firewall.

The seats are from the AMT '88 Mustang GT with the headrests removed. The gauges have been drilled from the instrument panel and will be filled with photoreduced Auto Meter gauges.

Front end mods are subtle but significant. The bumper has been smoothed, lower valance panel opened and license plate removed. A new grill surround was scratchbuilt with .020 Evergreen. Driving lights mocked up since I solved the mounting issue. Turn signals have been drilled out and replaced with MV Lenses. They will be tinted orange to match the 1:1.

The inside of the grill opening has been modified to accept Model Car Garage photoetch grill. The original is on the left.

Enjoy!!!
