the flaming stops here.

Drifter SE, JDMDrft, this applies to you.

this thread will stay open because i want to see hard evidence that this swap actually took place. as of now, you have the credibility of one of my ass hairs and there's still no way i believe any single bit of this sob story. so give us some hard proof or at least sound like you know what you're talking about. it WAS your own damn car...

Re: The Infamous Probe-Urban

uhhhh the Ka-t is definately a more tourquey motor than the sr-t because it has 400cc more displacement and displacement=tourque I'm not saying the KA-T is THE drag motor for a 240 but it is the better choice

Re: The Infamous Probe-Urban

displacement does not equal torque.
STROKE equals torque.
stroke is only 1 factor of displacement.

Re: The Infamous Probe-Urban

and BTW, what does a 7 point roll cage look like.
I've seen 4, 6, 8, and 10.
never seen a 3, 5 or 7.

I designed the roll cage in my Miata and in my 944, (6 pt cages for SCCA SSB and ITS, respectively), and would really like to know where the 7th point is as well. This could be a useful chassis stiffening tool that could make its way into some of the other cars I'll be designing cages for.

My guess is that the engine that's in the Probe is either a 2.5L V6 or a 3.0L V6. That would be a pretty easy swap, or non-swap as the case may be. In any case, the tourque that a standard GM V6 puts out is not much more than the 2.2 turbo in the gen I probe put out, and the chassis would be able to handle it.

BTW, I had a 91 Probe GT and designed a set of Willwood front brakes for it. They were on the car for 2 mos before the car was totaled (hit in rear). With 17" wheels there should be no problem with clearance, and I'm sure it would make a fine addition to the Probe V6. PM me if interested.

I am willing to post proof I have a race prepared car, are you?

I'm in the red SSB Miata being passed by the (much faster, much less restricted) ITS BMW's

Re: The Infamous Probe-Urban

in any case, he's talking about a rwd probe.
nope, not feasible, sorry.
the probe v6 is a 2.5L. it's the klz motor, which, in the japanese version, is a 200hp beast. i've got a friend with one in her mx3... it's like putting an h22 in a civic hatch...

the only way i'd see a 7 point would be if you maybe counted where 2 bars "Y" into the same spot in the middle of something, but if you did that,it'd have to be symmetrical, and do the same on the other side. so then you're back to even #'s. you can't have a cage with an odd number of points that doesn't place extra stress on your chassis. hmm...

myth? busted.

Hi im a newb and I don't know nearly as much as like everyone on this forum cuz ive only been learning about cars for like a year. Even I know that its impossible to do the Proburban thing. Maybe if your a master mechanic or something. Don't sweat it if your wrong, i've been really stupid about things too, like how I told my friend that I wanted to put in a WRX engine into a 1970 porsche 911 and then i forgot that a porsche is RR drivetrain and my friend told me that(doesn't know for sure) everything in the drivetrain would have to be backwards, beacuse the WRX engine is supposed to be in front, so id be flipped around, and maybe the whole drivetrain.

I also want to get a 240sx and race it. I was hoping I could swap a SR20DET into it(with some help of course) because turbocharging a ka engine would be kinda hard wouldn't it? Plus, if im right, wouldnt the car be lighter, smaller engine, and then the wieght balance will be better because then there isnt as much wieght in the front and it will be more even. And that leads to better handling doesn't it? And my final question is: If i wanted a higher output turbo (300ps), what would I have to change so that everything works out in the end. I have almost no idea, but maybe fuel pump, injectors, throttle body, exhaust? Id be great if someone could get back to me on that. My AIM screen name is
L3ThAL1njection.

I believe in 91-93 (late Gen I) Ford also put the 3.0L V6 from the Taurus into the Probe.

I'm not sure, but I believe this is a RWD Ford Probe

http://www.scca.org/amateur/club_rac...3/9F9B6510.JPG

It finished 4th at the SCCA Runoffs in GT3 this year. Granted, even if it is RWD, it is a full tube frame chassis that has the 2.5L V6 engine from the Probe and a body that looks like that of the Probe, and everything else is changed, but I believe it to be theoretically possible to make a RWD Probe. GT5 has RWD original Minis as well, and I've even seen a RWD GT3 Acura Integra.

It doesn't make the Proburban story believeable, just that it is possible to make a RWD Probe, though not without a LOT more modification than has been mentioned here (which I don't want to mention b/c it could be used as assistance to this story).

Re: The Infamous Probe-Urban

you're right. it's not impossible.
but the car you've posted is, like you said, a completely custom tube frame car with fiberglass body panels...
per the notes on Speed channel's coverage... these cars are fully custom built with a "silhouette" of the car they're based on.

hardly a probe that's been simply converted to RWD, huh?

i know what you're saying and agree, and i think you agree on what i'm saying. this kid DIDN'T do it.
