September11 had a profound effect on the economies of most industrialised nations. But the potential outcome in terms of economic instability if Bush is stupid enough to invade Iraq could make the whole thing seem like a picnic.First sign of risk to the world oil supply, the price of crude will skyrocket. But Bush won't care,he'll be looting it from Iraq.

The cost of war is now so great that small countries literally cant AFFORD to wage war with america. Imagine your nation has the SKILL to compete with larger countries, financially they may not be able to do it anyway. Interesting hey. And the worlds not money based.... lol, you're right mr.T, bush wont wage war unless there are gains right now, his budgets too shagged. This is becoming a lot like Bill CLintons, "Cruise missiles for votes" weapons firing into iraq that time. A war would hide Mr Bushs financial problems quite well.

Surely you are joking! The whole reason for this invasion is money! The money that will come from the oil they will take

That's the reason why the UK is in on it too, they want the oil as well. Russia would throw their hand in as well, but they want UN aproval first.

 If you've been paying attention to what is going on in the United Nations, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic are only willing to participate if the UN votes they must.

Russia and France are in agreement, although Russia may decide to invade anyways, to get the oil they need.

The only countries that actually WANT to invade are the US, and the UK. The talk of multinational support and a "coalition" is clever spinning on the part of the United States and the United Kingdom, to give their planned invasion a sense of legitimacy, which it is severely lacking.

Monkey Magic, it sounds to me like you've been watching too much CNN/BBC.

thats not what i read .........did the BBC leave something out or did i miss the fine print http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2710853.stm

Russian said its line would harden if Iraq doesn't open up so i wouldn't say they are 100% on anything

Don't believe anything you read on the BBC website about the war, they're the state funded broadcasting service! Their purpose during this period is to propagandize you!

Russia wants the oil too, but they at least will wait for the UN to send them in, unlike the British and the Americans. I think the only press you should be reading right now is from Germany, as they are not interested in fighting Iraq for GW Bush.

This is a very impartial news service, but most of the stories are about German issues :/

Well except for parroting CNN in a slightly more believable fashion... not as bad as the US networks, but still in the same game. Trying to incite a pro war sentiment in the UK.

actually i haven't read anything like that

all i see is whats going on there doesn't seem to be alot of opinion to it

Saying its all about the oil is theory and speculation left for the tabloids such as the Mirror

They're not so blatantly obvious to write openly pro war articles, but they are obvious enough to put a pro war spin on everything. For instance, how the Iraqis are blocking UN inspectors at every turn... How they kicked the last team out, which they didn't... How they're withholding important info...

i didn't read they were with holding important info and thought it was that they weren't being too willing to cooperate (altho i think if they tried this in the US they'd get laughed at)

I thought the article about the US and short war boosting economy would've been an anti war spin on it.

I don't trust the BBC news entirely because they put entertainment on it
