Re: 4TH Gen boasting 500+HP
Will do, I am hoping for 11's. but we shall see. I currently am working on the suspension so traction won't be such a issue but I am sure it will still hook up nicely with my drag radials.

How much, John? If an Lt1 bolts right up to my tranny I might be able to get one off your hand.

Re: 4TH Gen boasting 500+HP
I meant the cam's. I have one LT1 I plan to sell soon but its not ready yet and another is a bare block but if you have a 305 or 350 in your current Third gen, then yes it would bolt right up to the tranny. If its a sixer then you would need to change the tranny as well.

Re: 4TH Gen boasting 500+HP
The bellhousing bolt pattern is different. They are both 700r4 but the contact pattern where it bolts up to the engine won't match up.

Re: 4TH Gen boasting 500+HP
V8's are 90 degrees, and he sixers if memory serves is a 60 degree engine, causing the difference in bolt patterns. cept for the 4.3L which is 90 degrees

Re: 4TH Gen boasting 500+HP
oh i didnt realize thats what you were asking, no the trannies are the same, its the bellhousing thats different, its just the bolt pattern to hold them to the engine. the internals of the V6 and V8 transmissions are the same.

Alright I see, so are all the trannys like this? Seems like a real bitch to those who want to move up in engine sizes from a six.

Re: 4TH Gen boasting 500+HP
Actually some V8 model 700r4 & 4l60 & 4l60-E have better/bronze internals and a better servo but 700R4 for V8's are a dime a dozen at the salvage yards, I am sure I can get you one for like 300 -400 bucks and it will even have a 100 day warranty but you should know that a drivetrain swap involves alot of work and many have stopped 1/4 of the way in and never touched the cars again only to sell them for like 1/10 of what they use to be worth.
