yeh but the old gt40 was so great because it was pure. The new one is in danger of being just like most others, boring yet fast. the original did only wot it was supposed to do, go very very fast. Oh, and kick ferrari's ass:sun:

Yeah, it's nice. I think there should be a lightweight version with stiff suspension for enthusiasts and racers. The GT-40 Club Racer or something...

From what I hear, it's supposed to be a pretty limited run, not more than a few thousand a year.

You must remember that the powerplant most talked about is the 5.4 wit supercharger. That would give it less tuner potential than a Viper or Vette. Also, the Cobra R only did 0-60 in 4.8 (Motor Trend) I'd only expect 0-60 in 4.0. These cars have the same base engine. Long live the Viper.

Yeah, but all that weight on the rear wheels... and don't forget, there is a whole aftermarket built on ripping off those blowers and putting on turbos. 800hp would not be unthinkable out of a DOHC 5.4...

With a 5.4 DOHC, you shouldn't need any turbo or NOS. Dam Basterds. I will personaly kill the first person to put NOS in the GT40. DIE DIE DIE

Modified Ford GT

I am sure there will be some room for performance upgrades, but in most cases, I would bet that most owners won't do anything to their car. It is a car that is an instant classic. It has great performance, not the best on the planet, but way more than normal people are used to or would probably ever even use. It will be able to give any normal exotic a run for its money on the street. The chances of coming up against a Diablo or a 550 Maranello are probably pretty low.

The Ford GT is more in the class of the Viper, 360 Ferrari, and the new Lamborghini Gallardo. Up against any of those, I think it would give a good race and maybe even a surprise or two in stock trim.

After 3 or 4 years of production, if they make that many, I am sure there will be those that need more horsepower and want to make a statement with the Ford GT. Then you will start to see the serious performance mods.

But for the first 1000 or so made, they will be collector cars that will bring big bucks on the open market.

I don't understand why ford doesn't put a stroker engine in it. i seen actually pictures of a gt 40 at mustang unlimited. and my god, you don't know how short they are till you see a guy next to it (gt-40 = 40 inches in height) Now what about the GT-90? 90 inches? Maybe the new ford gt won't be 40 inches... maybe that's why there dropping the 40.

I agree with the old ones being better. What else could make 400hp for 24 hours, STRAIT! Vipers (I loathe vipers) wouldn't be able to idle for even 24 hours. and The ZO6 (btw one of the lightest v-8 powered cars ever) won't be able to do it either.
