I like the original GT-40, it's one of my favourite cars. The mark 4, 2300 lbs, 427 side oiler... 200mph. Swweeeet.

The new one is going to be really heavy though, 3000 lbs dry. I think it's a little heavy.

My lugnut requires more torque than your LS1 makes.

heavier, more computer dependant, and with a LOT of mustang influence...

the old ones were the best... although. i wouldn't complain if i was able to have a new one!

Yeah, too many mustang parts. Still, nobody builds a mid engined V8 supercar like Ford!

The Esprit was sort of off course for Lotus though, they did light sports cars, and they did them very well.

Something I don't think anyone has mentioned, the heritage of the GT40 in the Saleen S7. I see shades of GT40 everywhere in that car, from the basic body shape, the 7 liter Ford V8 amidship, the very look and feel of the car.

It's going to be interesting to see the competition.

As much as I like the new 40s, they're gonna get their doors blown off. The only cars ever to beat the Gt-40s on the track were the 917s, and they went on to kill the open Can-Am series, because they were too powerful! Even then, the GT-40 still won Lemans in '69, even though by just a car length or two.

Don't count on seeing the GT-90 in showrooms anytime soon, or ever for that matter.

I want to build a replica with a turbo 347.
