Joe:
MotoRex imports the Skyline into the Sates.

The Maxima is not the flagship, it is a family saloon.

The VQ is not the best engine available in the States.

Get your facts right. I have them right. I have done the research. Go to Nissan japan and see for yourself. Check out the JGTC website. You will not find the Maxima even listed in the GT300 class (lowest available).

The Skyline is not the best car in the world. What it does it does better than those in its class.

Until you can prove me wrong then I will not shut up. So provide me and the rest of those watching this thread with the documentation, website, PROOF. Simple!

255 bhp is nothing. The GTR produces more than in factory trim out of 2.6 liter double over head cam, twin turbo charged engine. If the Japanese though the VQ was the best motor or base motor to work with they would be using it in all the top Nissan cars in Japan. They use the RB26DETT or the SR20DET depending on the class they working to. For all out performance and block strength the RB26 is it. There is nothing else until you get into the V8 Nissan motor, and even at that the Japanese are just starting to explore it. Your Top tuning houses such as HKS, Vailside, Jun, Top Secrete, Trust, Blitz, Tommy Kaira, Apexi, the list goes on use the RB motor.

If you still do not believe me go to the HKS or Apexi websites in Amercia. See what engine they use in their drag cars. See what engine the top two tuners in the States use. Don't take my word for it, go and see for yourself.

The problem as I see it you are just blinded by narrow mindedness and are now backed into a corner with no were to run. The problem is you are digging yourself deeper and deeper into that hole.

here are a few links for you, incase you are too lazy or can find them.

http://www.veilside.co.jp

http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk

http://www.tommykaira.com/

http://www.apexi.com/

I am not smarter than everyone else.

You're just dummer than you think. :finger:

Well Mr. Indiana since I was born and raised in the states for over 30 years I think I know a bit about cars in the States, not all but a fair amount.
T H E S K Y L I N E is now part of your market as well.

There are RB motors still running around with over 200,000 miles not kms, in cars over 15 years here. Now I would call the reliability wouldn't you?

I don't care if you think it is ugly. I personally think the Maxima is a waste of a engineering and waste of time, except it is a family car.

The Viper is the only car the States has ever produced that competed against the Skyline in Japan with any sort of sucess, if you want to call it that. Technology is a wonderful thing. I am not taking anything away from the Vette or the Viper. They are both great cars in their own right.

The topic was best engine. In my opinion in the Nissan came it is the RB not the VQ. It does not matter what car it came in or what size it is. I look at more than just how long an engine will last. Any motor will last a very long time if taken care of properly. If you want the best overall you have to take into consideration all aspect of the motor, and what can be not only acheived as far as tuning but reliable tuning. Christ there are VW's with over 500,000 miles on them. A Merc did over 1,000,000 miles where does it end?

You stated that the maxima is Nissan's flagship. That may be a while ago in the States only because the US government did not allow them in until MotoRex went through the testing procedures. So once again the Skyline and the RB motor are now part of the US market. The next generation of Skyline will also be heading to the States for brand new sales soon.

Check mate.

Angry

you idiots, your arguing over a car company that is 44% owned by Reneult... YOUR ARGUING OVER FRENCH CARS!!! anyway the best engines should be judged by reliability, overall strength, and life span.
you should check out the 1966 volvo P1800 with over 2,000,000 MILES... now thats quallity!!! a automotive engine should be strong at 40 degrees C. or -40 degrees C. if you can show me a engine that survives winters in saskatoon, saskatchewan and will show 500,000 KM or miles then i will be impressed.

just wondering... what are your speed limits like? we are 50 kmh city and 80-110 highway 80 is only on dirt roads
