I think you can have them pick it up right @ the loading docks. Im not sure if thats including if you buy the skyline from them. You might have to pay for a car transport to pick it up.

Re: Anybody heard of Bafta

When researching the legitimacy of a business in Japan, they have a special code that issued to them via the government which ensures that they are on the up and up. I can't remember what it is right this second. For some reason "trust code" keeps popping up but that has to do with TT's, so I don't think it is the same thing.....
Someone made the remark---"I guess this is how business is done in Japan"---NO NO NO. The Japanese are the most upstanding and honest business people there are, especially in the used car business. If BAFTA is indeed a bad outfit, then they are a part of a VERY SLIM minority.
I was suspicious of them for a while but I can't remember why. I will look into this stuff more (especially into that gov.issued code) no later than Tomorrow night, hopefully, and advise....I got to sleep now!

Re: Anybody heard of Bafta

The code I was thinking of is called the "Company Registration Number", which is given to a company by the Japanese government which confirms that they are legally registered and a legitimate company, and also verifies their address....If you ever have questions about a company, their history, or wonder about their credibility, you can use this number to call the local equilivant of the Japanese trade commission(not sure if that is what this entity is called....if someone knows feel free to interject) and inquire about the company and see if they have had any problems or complaints issued against them in the past.
In Batfa.com's case they LOOK legitimate---quite a bit of their site rings true....I remember I had them on my list of favorites on my old computer......Your best case scenario would be to contact them and ask for their "Company Registration Number"----any legitimate company in Japan would be more than happy to give this to you, no questions asked, unless they had something to hide or didn't have one at all.....The only thing that rings suspicious to me is that they don't have it on their home page although that page claims they are registered...If they ARE registered they will have this number, which they will give you, and you can call Tokyo and confirm it. Otherwise, they are something to be wary of.

Michael Bernard

FURTHER COMMENT---to 9D3RST (the person who has wired them money and not recieved the vehicle or knows of it's being shipped)---did they ever send you the receipt (as stated on their "how to buy a car")?
Also, look at their "shipping schedule"---I don't see anything bound for the US....
Keep us updated on what you learn. I am also inquiring as to their CRN and will confirm their existance, reputation, etc, and keep everyone updated as well.....

I think I will interject right about here....

What you are talking about is a "kobutsu shou", or a license to deal in used motor vehicles. It is a bitch to get, and I should know as I have one. If you asked for my particular number, I would tell you to get bent. That would be the same as me giving you my social security number or a credit card number. I will tell you where I am registered, and you can inquire throught the local police station. That is the LEGAL process for doing this.

Now, most everything else you said is true. It is hard as hell to get the license here in Japan, and no dealer to my knowledge will conduct bad business, but the universal law of commerce applies: caveat emptor.

NO, they never did send an "official recipt soon after payemnt confirmation" as they state on their page.

Matada, you're in Japan correct?
few questions, have you personally heard of them?
Dealt with them?
Known someone who has dealt with them?
What do you suggest i do about getting my car or my $2,900.00 back?

its been nearly 4 months now since i paid for this car, this is total bullshit the way they're operating...

recently i faxed them a copy of my wire transfer recipt, and requested that "the offical recipt" be faxed back to me...i've yet to get a fax back, a phone call or an email.

They do speak english, but not very well..

Im open to any suggestions you guys have about this..
I can use that money to convert a lhd integra to rhd, more time consuming but hell it has been 3.5 months already, i could have been done with this..

Send me all their info and the info on your transaction via PM. I can't promise I will do any good, but I can call them and figure out the situation.

Re: Anybody heard of Bafta

Called Bafta. Bullsit artists is my opinion.

Talked with Komaru San regarding your car. He claims he informed you they were waiting on available space on the boat. I gave him my number and told him he needed to speed things up as you were about to contact the Japanese authorities through me.

He said he would be contacting a friend regarding the shipping and would call me back today.

...they didnt explain nothing, all they told me was "its been delayed"..every time i call i get to hear this BS...and that took a phone call from ME @ $2.53/min to find out...i never heard of any car being delayed for nearly 4 months because they are out of room on a ship..this is bullshit....another thing...why is the car i paid them $2900 for still listed on the site as available? They don't send me a confirmation reciept, no emails after they got my money, never faxed me back....Greg

Re: Anybody heard of Bafta

9D3RST have you checked with MotoRex lately? Last I heard they were not complying Skylines. I know there was some issues with the DOT.

I highly suggest you contact them asap, because if you get a Skyline shipped to the states odds are it will be confiscated. Currently that makes NO ONE legalizing them.

This might not be a bad thing. Im sure there will be other people who will be willing to do it. It isnt like a business can't do it. If an automotive place is will to spend the money on legalaztion and getting the permit can they??
