I have to add to this “debate” I’m here looking for information about R5 A4s as I’m researching for a new car purchase. I have a lot of knowledge of cars and research them incessantly it’s my addiction.

I have to disagree with you bashing the Mazda 6, it’s a great car with a next generation version of the Ford Duratec v6 and is easily the equal to Audi’s v6. It has been on the top ten engine list for several years. The platform is completely new and will be used for many Ford, Mazda, and Volvo cars. It is one of the best handling FWD v6 cars available.

Now I don’t want a Transverse v6 FWD car so I’m here looking at Audi’s I do think the A4 has many nice features and better interior quality then the Mazda and this is also something I’m looking for. I think the Audi is a superior car but I will not dis the Mazda 6 as it is a great car in it’s own right.

We also don’t know that he drives a Mazda 6, I think he is here looking for the fight you all gave to him. I do think that his friend needs to learn to drive his A4. It is in a completely deferent league then a civic. Where talking luxury European performance vs. Japanese econobox.

No way i would trade my car in for that POS. Sure it's faster but it ends at that. I sat in one in the auto show and its got one of the worst interiors i have ever seen.

HAHAHA.. Guys this thread made me laugh... This guy probably has that 200k 93 Civic. Mazda 6 is he's dream car. He's 16-17 years old. He thinks that he's Japaneese econo-sh!t-box can beat an A4. Having many german cars before I can say that Civic doesn't even come close to Audi in every aspects. Seeing 1990 Civics with their big exausts on the road just makes me laught, especialy when guys inside them think that "they are the sh!t". I drive a 2000 Nissan Maxima and can say that I miss my BMW 528. The build quality of BMW is amazing.

PS: Someday all hardcore Civic Fans will grow up. Civic was build as an econo car!!!

True that sergeo. I used to own a 1986 Mercedes 300E and it feeled every bit as solid as my current A4. Germans make some fine automobiles and was just in europe on vacation, people over there would definately pick a bmw or an audi becuase of the driving style, twisty roads, and severe weather conditions (audi quattro).

The A4 is an awsome car, it's just not a drag car. With AWD the traction is great, but you can't get the wheel spin off the line in order to maintain higher RPM's in first gear(unless your goal is to trash the car). Also, there is a loss of horsepower due to the fact that it is AWD. The engine just has to work harder putting power to all wheels. I wet weather or snow, like Indiana, Quattro will destroy any POS civic and maintain it's investment much longer.

I hope you meant diverter valve. Besides civics are the fastest cars around and everyone knows that. Torque monsters rule.

If you compare the dyno graphs of a 4 cyl turboed Honda you can see that they make their peak torque only after 4-5k rpms. The 1.8T STOCK makes its peak torque at just 1950rpms. Leaving you in the dust while you are changing gears trying to keep the rpms up...

speed is not the only attribute of a car that counts
if you compare the two the a4 is a much higher quality car
i certainly believe so and to think of the weight diff
personally i am new to the a4 group but my car stock still takes civics i mean cmon a civic is not that fast they are still at about 140 hp stock

atleast with the A4 you will be safe. BTW, my dad used to own an A4, that shit handles better then any civic or integra iv been in. Plus it has airbags and seatbelts which protect me incase some retard like you crashes into me. The civic is equiped with pillows(if that) and some strings so you could cut your chest in half. So go home and write coffin on that little ricer you got.
