Enzo, you are right that a Mustang would beat a Honda off the line. However racing on city streets is irresponsible and where it count the most as on back roads, top end power is a tad more important than buckets of torque @ 2000rpm. Some of you might be very good driver but the average driver is better off in a front driver. I often can go much deeper in to a curve on a 4 lane highway than a guy in a pony car b/c of the reassuring understeer. Those guys have probably spun before so they get very tentative especially with decreasing radius curves. As far as the debate about specific output is concern, the 911 turbo has two turbos, costs $100K, puts out 115 hp/l. The $32K S2000 puts out 120 hp/l. That says something about the engineering superiority of Honda. Dodge sucks. Bought a Neon for my girlfriend b/c she thinks it's cute. She drove it for 16K miles and took it to the dealer 5 times for two different problems. One was never fixed. Traded it in for an Accord. It has 115K miles on it, no problem and looks like it can go another 100K with minimal repairs. Hondas are not exciting out of the box but on a dark night in the middle of nowhere, I rather drive a Honda than anything else.

I don't exactly hate civics but they are annoying, wher I live everyone has a modified civic. Modifying a civic is no longer original anymore. Civics are to common for me. Their are so many car people out their wasting their time on civics when their are millions of other potential cars that they could be spending their time on.

You are right Piston, too many Civics but it is about the cheapest car with a plethora of aftermarket equipment to fix up. Everything else cost more money and that makes people a bit reluctant to fix it up and end up throwing away perfectly good parts. With my Civic I am not afraid to drive fast...

your question was which is better... so if you spend 5k more extra on civic it is better but if you are proportionate... you cant compare the stock stang to the s/c si so spend some cash on the stang, b/c your question is unfairly biased |

Not to down a fellow Honda driver, but I hate Civics.. I mean hell a SOHC 1.6L??? I mean you cant do anything with that.. You spend like 4000 on your engines supercharging them, puttin nitro in them, etc.. and yet you still only run 14 sec quarter miles... Love the looks of them when they are fixed up tho!! but i mean the engines are horrible.. I wish they would make a civic with a big engine.. I have a Lude and love it... AND NO IM NOT BEING MEAN

i just dont see it as fair to say that an si w/ 5k in mods will beat a stock mustang. alot of cars with 5k in mods will beat a mustang... im sure a kia could with a 5k turbo upgrade or sumthin... ya know?
it just isnt fair to say that, if you spent the extra cash... which doesnt exist, cuz if i had the extra 5k, iwould buy a nicer car... how many people would buy a car that is 5k cheaper to spend the 5k on it? if i had the five i would spend it on an upscale car, then save up and mod that... that is all that i am sayin i dont know if i am coherent there... it is like 1am right now |

not me.. if i had a choice between mustang gt or a 4th gen lude..i would take the extra 10 grand and make it hella tite!

the way i see it though... is that most people are gettin a loan for that kinda stuff, and the "extra" is not really there... ya know?
like if i had 30k and spent only 22... then there is 8 extra... but if i finance for 22... there is no extra... that is what i meant... ya dig? |

yeah i drove around for a while my moms bfriend's cobra.. it was fast and great and all but of course you had to fillup every block and on top of that it really didnt feel fast which is the feeling you DO get when your in an import!

you have to go by size and weight there. the stang is bigger, feels bigger. our cars are tiny in comparison. and... you expect to go fast, so it isnt a big surprise. you dont really expect a honda to be fast, but if the stang cobra is slow... prollem. it is mental there... the numbers show it is fast, you are just used to smaller packaging... rwd is so cool though... i wish i could convert my lude to rwd , or at least some sort of awd. that would kill everyone... hehehe

yeah that was what i was tryin to explain was the fact that it is a lot bigger and sits higher and it just isnt fun to drive
... but that viper at SHO's board that has 800 hp and 800 lb-tq twin turbo, a street car that runs 0-60 in 2.6 sec and runs 1/4 in 10.1 hehe.. now i bet we would feel the power then ..
