Thanks for your help about the history of this car Phil
![]() I didn’t manage to get some good info about this one. From the numbers I deduce it only participated in a few races (U.S.A and Canada 80 season) and never with great results. I didn’t found any picture of the real car so I show you the draws in the S27 decal sheet to give you an idea of how it will look. ![]() Didn’t know that tip to separate glued parts Veyron. I just separate them manually. I normally don’t use too much glue, just the essential to join the parts. Besides the parts needed to be paint are not to complex to remove, 2 side panels, back wing, mirrors, and everything from the front wing to the engine cover is a single piece. Currently I’m still painting the body and will only finish the process in about two days. |

Finished today the paint process of the body and I’m really satisfied with it.
![]() Next stage will be to clean all the glue from the parts that were separated, paint them again and rebuild the model in order to start applying the alternative decal set. I think this one is on the way to become a real nice model after all.

Since I’m putting all my effort on this model things are running quite fast.
![]() Here is the top cover with all the decals applied. ![]() I decided to go for the USA GP. The difference to the CAN GP is just 4 decals but I prefer this scheme. These Studio 27 decals are really nice to work with. They are strong but flexible and easy to apply. More progress pics to come. |

Almost done.
![]() Don’t know if the seat in this version also is painted in flat green. I’ll have to wait until I find some reference picture. Unfortunately even with a restoration this model will not be at 100%. The top cover come deformed from the box and is impossible to close the left and right sides at the same time. ![]() I have a theory of putting the piece over some light fire so it get softer and I can try to correct this torsion, but I’m afraid I’ll end up just doing worst. Anyone know some technique to solve problems like this? |

You could try immersing it in hot, not boiling, water and twisting. However given that you've already painted and decaled it there may be some risk of damage. Probably safest to leave it as is.
Coming along nicely BTW Nuno. Very colourful! I've found one single reference picture of this car, unfortunately it is only black and white. Will try to scan and post it tonight. |

Here it is. Not a great pic, and being b&w doesn't show the bright colour scheme. However it is the only pic I've been able to find.

Yepes, too bad is not a colour picture but in any case it have some useful information Phil. For instance I now see that the side mirrors are all silver instead of white as in the official Williams.
Also is nice to see a picture of the real car for the first time. ![]() You’re right. Now that the decals are placed the better thing is to live it as it is. |

CONCLUSION
This will be the final photo of this project since it’s really near to conclusion. ![]() I will only need to glue the mirrors, place 2 decals and clear coat the entire body. I spent some time repainting most of the engine and interiors and I think it was a good idea since it improved the global aspect of the model. I decided also to paint the seat, changing from the flat green (used on the official version probably due to combine with the Saudia sponsor green) to a most usual flat black. I hope this thread was of some use. At least to prove that is possible to give a new look to an old and unloved car. I’m truly satisfied with the change. It looks a completely new model. I don’t intend to stop here. I have another model that is waiting for a complete re-stile, a 1994 ProMarkt AMG Mercedes C-Class DTM, so if you know of someone who makes alternative decal schemes for this one pleas inform me.
