Just to point this out even if a neon and skyline did race look at the diferences. 2.0 i4 compared to a 3.0 i6. Neon front wheel drive comapared to skyline all wheel drive. Neon stock no turbo compared to skyline stock twin turbo. So even if the both of these cars raced the skyline still has the advantage over the neon even if both are modified. So really it wouldn't be a fair race.

Lightbulb Neon vs. Skyline

Ok. Allow me to shed some light on this controversy. First off, neonrcr95, stock skylines run at 2.6 not 3.0. Next, stock R-34s run the 1/4 in the high 13s to low 14s so if your neon is running 11s or 10s then of course you'll win. Also, as posted earlier, a stock skyline is slower than an NSX. Along with the whole 1/4 argument, in order for a skyline to run in the 11s or 10s, it needs to be boosted to 600-700 HP, which is way under an RB26's threshold. That's the deciding factor, however. The RB26DETT is perhaps the most tunable engine ever created. Numerous examples exist in Japan that put out well over 800 HP. And yes, some put out as much as 1300 HP. It is very easy to extract absurd amounts of power from the RB26. So, if we're talking about his neon versus a stock skyline, then he'll win walking away. He would probably winn over a slightly to moderately tuned skyline as well. However, against a more highly tuned skyline, goodnight! Not a chance!! Maybe this will clear everything up and stop everyone from bitchin' back and forth.

Skylines are'nt cheap at all. A company called MotoRex imports skylines and makes them street legal. New R34 GTR V-SPECII run upwards of $85,000. Pretty stinkin' expensive. Older models (R32, R33) cost $30,000 and up (way up) through MotoRex also. Now, you can do a gray market import in which you have a skyline imported for "off-road use only". You basically buy it in Japan and ship it here. Shipping will run you around $4,000 but Skylines are actually quite cheap in Japan. Low mileage, used, late model GTRs will run around $30,000. It's possible to find used R32s and R33s in Japan for $20,000. Regardless, it's still gonna cost you $30,000+ to get one over here. For a street legal version quite a bit more.

v8 conversion

wats up. I am planning on doing a v8 conversion on my neon. either a 318 or 360. I was hoping you could help me out with giving me info on everything I need to do to make this happen and the companies that provide the parts needed for the conversion, like motor mounts, rear ends, everything like that. thanks.

Question

ok, im sticking with the subject

Where did you get that picture?

Id like to know how they moved the battery to the passenger side, and to top it all off it looks like the ac is still installed. Now why would you move the battery on the other side of the hood and keep the ac in a v8 swap in a itty bitty engine bay? Oh and where is that hose on top of the thermostat going to, the fog light hole???

I would like to know more about that "v8 neon".

I'll vouch for the Neon's capabilities with a turbocharger on it. Have any of you ever seen Forward Motion's turbo neon? It's in the 8's or 9's I believe. This is on the stock block too.. with internals of course.. but stock block! I've seen several turbo street neon's in the 11's and 12's.

That's no necessarily true... There are several 1000+whp R33 and R34 GTR's in the states. I promise you, if you run across a 1000whp AWD GTR V-Spec II, you won't touch it with anything short of a car running 8's. I've seen/ridden in a car that JWT did some work on that was making 600whp.. and it ran mid 10's all day long. This was on a bone stock RB26DETT with turbo, ECU, injector, intercooler, and exhaust upgrades.

That's the one claim that should'nt be made with a neon even with a boosted stratus motor I mean we're talking a TT inline six. I'll post a dyno video with an average Skyline that is off the dyno charts. I've seen a Skyline that has 1300 hp so are you sure you are talking about a Nissan Skyline GTR???
Skylines are just average cars when they are stock. Stock Mustang GT's (00-03 model years) can run high 13's to low 14's all day long, just like the Skyline. Only you can get a new GT for $22.5K out the door as opposed to the $40K+ price of an imported R33-34 GTR. The Subaru STi and Lancer EVO are faster than a stock Skyline R33, and the Neon SRT-4 is right behind those cars. Skyline is a good car, but it's only great when it's extensively modded. By the time you get a Skyline to the low 12's in the 1/4, you could be doing that time with a stock '03 Mustang Cobra for less than half the price. It's all relative...
