Hey dp,

Thanks for the complement. "damm you sure know your business ?????"

I am moving to Europe at the end of the year. That's when I will buy my GT-R and tear it down and rebuild it. I will post what I learn from it on this board, my only regret will be that you will learn from it too.

Yep, you guys all make good points, dieselpower excluded. Also, Shooter Boy, thanks for the info on the customs bond. Maybe someone here can put up some dough and partner with an RI to help out on this stuff. All I have to say is best wishes. It would be awhile before I could come up with enough dough, but I have no doubts that it could be done for less than US$500,000. Unfortunately, few folks with the will to do it have the cash, and those with the cash would likely just buy from MotoRex since they probably are too busy making that kind of money in other ventures. I hope one of you guys with the cash proves me wrong and saves me big bucks from MotoRex's prices since their prices are only going up. IMO, if their used car prices dropped at least 10%, they would likely sell tons more cars, and likely reap bigger profits. In case nobody has seen their website, 2001 cars are US$95,000 and up. Used Skyline prices were not adjusted, even though they keep getting cheaper for them to purchase in Japan. Then again, one can argue about the exclusivity factor in the US...but that's another story...

DP - your spelling is a direct reflection of you. If you can't spell, who is going to listen to what your opinions on business are? even when you don't know what you are talking about.

Everyone Else: I would love to be involved with a program of importing GTR's, or maybe Silvia's, Sunny's etc.

If anyone is interested, email me, we can chat. Most of my money is locked up in our Racing Program, but maybe we can figure something out, or I can contribute with my knowledge of the FMVSS, DOT, EPA and Customs Regs, and use some of my contacts to help us out.

All words and no actions? Please do inform me, who imported my GTR?

I think that I am qualified to talk about this.

Um See in calfornia you need
1) A building
2) A stock of cars to sell
3) A stock of Parts to sell
4) Staff of TECNISISONS to work on the cars
5) Staff of Mechanics who know what they are doing
6) A Body shop who knows how to fix em
7) A shop to make Mods and install Turbo upgrades and race prep Cars for drag and Track.
8) Hey what about a TRAINED SALES STAFF
and how do you plan to pay them HUH !
9) What about advertising.
Since when do you need ALL of that to sell a car? This is a realatively small business, NOT a HUGE mainstream car dealer...At least not yet...
What really boggles my mind is that no one has Jumped on the J-spec Car improtation scene.... There are so many cars that would sell very well to people in the import scene. Hell if we could get the SCCA to allow R34s, S15s, Tom's Supras ect... We could change Touring, GT and GTR series racing in America for a long time.
In my eyes there is alot of money to be made selling J-spec cars here. Most import mags and sports car mags would feature that kind of thing in their pages so people would definitely find out about you and your Very different cars. Who knows what could happen if there where more RIs selling J-spec cars...I am totally down when it's comes to this kind of thing. Thats what I'm going to college for... MY own shop for all cars, And selling exotic J-spec cars like the TK ZZ 2....

what do you think he's doing now?! RESEARCH! 15 million LOL!

I think you need to get like 4-5 GTRs and crash them for safety testing or something like..... I remember somebody saying that motorex had to do this
so that'll put you down in the hole by a bit.... but if you have the funds, DO IT! I think there is huge profit to be made. Just keep us posted if you do it (I could use a job in California)

SkylineUSA ---- mann if your so smart why do you sell them out of your house.
How am I going to sell them. If I let it be known on the internet (like right here) that I have Gt-R34's for sale at say 50k and listed my address with this, the next day I would wake up to about 50,000 crazed Skyline lovers with cash in hand beating on my door saying things like "WE WANT V-SPEC, WE WANT V-SPEC" Well, not realy but what I am getting at is the supply and demand aspect of sales. The demand is already here IN FORCE. All I have to do is get the supply, problem solved. Rent out some space in a parking garage, rent a small corner office for like 5k a month. as for all the stuff above
3) A stock of Parts to sell *I'm basicaly a used car salesmen when you think about it, do they have a stock of parts on the lot?*
4) Staff of TECNISISONS to work on the cars *Same as above*
Wait, I'm not even going to bother responding to all those, I am not a dealership, people know this... they come to me to buy a skyline for 30k less then they would normaly have to pay. They know that I am not a dealership and that if they own an exotic car in the US they will have to go through the BS to get it fixed, modded, ect.

exactly, if you buy an exotic car like that, expect the hassles. It's worth it if it's a couple k less than motorex
plus it's not like motorex has a dealership or anything!! He'd just be trying to do what motorex is doing, just cheaper

motorex could use a little more advertisement IMO

Skylines are horridly under advertised here in the US, I think that if there were some TV commercials about then then more of a demand would be created which could motivate all the investers out there to sink some money into getting them into the US thus creating a supply to meet the demand and lowering prices all around (that damned motorex would have to lower prices if they wanted to keep their piece of the pie).

As for the need to advertise the hypothetical RI, very few people in the USA know what a Skyline is, and chances are, if you know what it is and don't have one, you are drooling over then and if there is a way to get then easiely in the US, YOU WILL FIND IT!

I know that if there was a dealer selling GTRs here in the US for say 30-50k, I would find it :P

I don't think motorex has enough money for TV commercials, i just think they need some better marketing... put some big ads in major car Magazines, that would do it

you could get an R33 skyline GT-R from motorex for around 50k
