el co return

i saw on a post, someone asking if the el co might return? at sema this year, they had an impala the was cut to look like a el camino and it looked pretty good, but it a front driver. gm did bring the holden over to test around LA and the press loved it. it is a real nice piece, plus rear drive its called the ute and can be seen at www.holden.com.au lutz has said he likes it and he is bringing a holden over for the gto.

Gotta be the 70' SS 454 model. My mother had the Chevelle-version as her first car. I still can't beleive she went & sold it & bought a Ford Maverick..

First choice: 70
Second choice: 66-67
Third choice: (and some laugh at me for this) but the last generation 80s elkys were nice. I like the boxy look and love A/G bodies from the 80s. I also preferred the quad headlights. I had an 85 and LOVED it. I had to ditch the 200C tranny when it died and I had plans to 'cage it and put a hemi in it just to pi$$ of some folks

By the way... new elky has been in the rumor mill for six or seven years. Check out GMs Holden website in Australia. The Ute as its called is based loosely on the Monaro and uses the LS1/T56. I like it, but its a little small compared to the Elkys we're used to. Chevy keeps modifying current malibus and monte carlos to bring to shows to see how customers react; if its worthwhile to consider bringing the Ute overseas.

Nice to see such a varied opinion on everyones favorite year(s).
I like 1959, 1968-72, 1985-87, and of course 1971-72 GMC Sprint. The rarest of the rare...a 1971 GMC Sprint with the 454 option, cowl induction w/4 speed and SP package. Mine is a 350 darn it! These are my favorites. HOW ABOUT YOU???

I think the fact that it's probably the size of the "80's" Elkys or smaller isn't such a bad thing really. It improves the power to weight ration. Yeah!!! sounds good to me. Smok 'em if you got 'em!

I have a 74 El Camino, and a 77 GMC Sprint... I'm a big fan of the Coke bottle style... planning on morphing them together and throwing in a 454

Re: Hey....Ok first of all whats yall favorite year!?!¿

Oh man, tough choice, they are all cool. My ultimate favorite El Camino has to be the 1972 SS, at least a 350 small block. My dad had one that I'll never forget when I was just a little girl. One heck of truck. My other favorite years would have to be 1959 El C, first year they made 'em, and to find a nicer one, I just want to drool when I see a perfectly restored 59 ride by. Then as far as another one I'd own, I have to say I like the 1982's just for the fact it's my birth year. So I guess, my number one is 1972, then 1959, and 1982, but I like the Generation 3 the best of all, 1966 to 1972 body styles and trucks. I like Chevelle's too. My fave Chevelle, a 1968. then 1972. The 1970's are nice on them too. BUT I'm a Cami girl first.
Love from Tennessee, TNelcLady82, (also known as MizzPrizm)

Hello
I just bought a 68 El camino my first one.. And I'm excited about it. I have small spotsof rust in the rear window and in the lower parts of the fenders. Is this common? I am the third owner and the second owner owned it from 1984 till now its been in California all its life and been sitting since 1997. Let me know what I have to do to get it road worthy please.

Thanks,
K Man

yeah, under the rear window and along the rear of the frame are the most popular parts to get nice and rusty.
