Nice choice with the '70 model. However, I prefer the '69 397 Elco.

Here is my '70.
It currently has a 350 bored .040, M-21 4-Speed, 12-Bolt Posi w/ 3.31 gears. I have a 455 Olds motor I was gonna put in, but now i am leaning towards an LS1 - 6-Speed swap, with Twin Turbos.

Gotta be the early Chevelles!

1964 & 1965 are my favorites.

My 1964 Elky Delux -
700R4 vette tranny,
GM 350 engine (soon to be a nice 383 in the works...),
rebuilt front end with polyurethane all around,
1971 Monte Carlo 11" front discs (short spindle swap),
1 1/4" rear sway bar,
15x7" Eagle aluminum rims.

Cheers to all you Elky owners - we'll see you around!

Favorite Year...

Well, for my favorite, I would have to say 1959. It was WAAY out there when it was introduced and is still way out there. Most people either love it or hate it, there is very little in between.

In stock trim, the 1959 is still cool, but lacks the reflection of the hot rod era of the early 60s. It takes a little modification to really bring out the agressive look of the '59. Having made a few class a rods through the years, my 1959 had its time to be upgraded. Now it looks like it should have from the factory. Low. Just an opinion, of course. The pics of my car should still be posted in the 1959 Elky Thread. I have seen '59s in several different colors, but it just doesn't look as good as red to me.

I have seen a few really sharp looking '60 Elky's, but my vote usually still goes with '59.

In stock trim, my favorite would have to be the 1970 Elky SS 454 LS-6, but my LS-3 will do for my taste. I love the black with the white "skunk" stripes. The pics of this car are in the 1970 Elky Thread.

Always been partial to the 72-78 Elky's but I own an 83 SS Elky. No mods as of yet since I just bought it from a guy for $150..Body needs a lil bit of work on the passanger door...but engine is good - Needs a crank shaft.. All original rims too.

I have to say the 1970. I love the 1970 Chevelle just as much as the 1970 El Camino.
