Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

basing your "wins" on power alone just shows ur inexperience. and any engine for the 96+ has 5 hp and that figure goes down as the year increases. civics are far lighter than cavaliers, have better tranny's, and virtually the same engine specs....most civics WOULD beat your car, not just the si's/r's or any combination of the 2....just because u have an exaust and intake on ur car, doesnt mean ur the shit, u still have a shitty engine.

Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

Would my pretty much stock 97 Z24 with K&N air filter with a 4speed auto beat my friends 1992 eagle Talon 2.0L 5speed (I have looked for stats on his car but can't find them they r all for talons with turbos and he dosen't have a turbo) who would win?

Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

I can kill 2005 and below civic's (ALL, even the SI) and accord's (The I4's) like nothing...

Haven't raced a 2006 civic SI, i think i will lose, but i should lose by like around 2 car-lengths tops...

Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

i severly doubt u will beat ur friends talon, unless he misses a shift. mitsu makes some stout motors and light cars and the mark 8 will kill u also.....it might be close but im not sure. and as for lefix who beat an 05 si, severely doubt it, and i doubt u could beat an accord either. i raced my step-dad in his 00 accord 5 speed and he killed me 03 cavy, and that was the h23 sohc.....u could proly beat all the civics but the si's.

1. im not basing it on power alone. u must be blind cuz i put weight on there also and i never said a race is based on just power, i just posted specs . i was gonna slip some "toss ups" in there but desided not to. i also wasnt expecting someone like u to come outta nowhere and start bashing me...

2. engine power doesnt go down drasticly like ur saying if u keep care of ur engine, simple as that. maybe urs goes down that much cuz u dont take care of it, but thats u, not everyone else.

3. i already stated the weight in the specs, so that was a waste of my time reading that part of ur post...

4. most? we r still talking about stock right? torque does come into play and civics dont have much of it as HOPEFULLY u could see this. here, ill edit that post w/ "toss ups" if it will make u feel better.

5. and no, i dont think im the shit. its pretty obvious that u think u r tho by the way ur coming in here and bashing me outta nowhere. i never aimmed nething toward u or ne1, and u just aimmed all that towards me. i dont appreciate it

and if u think im bashing u now, im not. im sticking up for myself cuz u did the bashing...

and i believe that sums up ur whole post.

Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

You guys do realize you are arguing over slow stock cars?

stock honda's are slow so are cavaliers, put intake and exhaust on them and geuss what. still slow!

depending on the model and year both come with engines that have no business being modified. Most of the honda single cam motors fall into this category. other single cams have been built and boosted and people are producing very good power numbers with them.

It's good to be unique and what not but some things just do not work and some things are a waste of money. I would listen to some of your cavalier friends that have been there done that and realized it was a waste of money and move on save for a better motor etc.

ya, thats basicly wut i was trying to tell everyone but he felt that he had to get his in and bash me in the process. i was just basicly trying to get the point across that my slow car can beat that slow car.

Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

wow, get over it, i wasn't "bashing" you.... just merely stating that just because u have a couple mods for a shitty car, doesnt mean u can beat civic's on power and weight alone. your car sux, my car sux, all cavaliers suck performance wise so stop trying to make it what its not and stop being so full of urself

thats the only intelligent thing ive seen u say so far in this thread. like i said b4, i kno i cant "beat civics on power and weight alone", and it works the same for them. and idk how im being full of myself, just listen to urself. w/e...im not about to have u keep talkin back to me over all this nonsense, so im just gonna stop. its a waste of my time and im sure its a waste of urs. good debate tho minus the back and forth flaming.

Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

Anyway...getting back to the point of this thread.
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=624700
This is a thread i made back in the dark ages.
A lot of the stuff is a little outdated and i don't think all of the hyperlinks work but it should give you an idea of stuff you can do to your cavalier.

Re: Recommend Screw on Mods

Alright, lets take a look at HP and TORQUE FIRST:
2005 Civic EX (Inline 4): 127 HP SAE @ 6,300 rpm; 114 ft lb , 155 Nm @ 4,800 rpm
2005 Civic SI (Inline 4): 160 HP SAE @ 6,500 rpm; 132 ft lb , 179 Nm @ 5,000 rpm
2005 Accord EX (Inline 4): 160 HP SAE @ 5,500 rpm; 161 ft lb , 218 Nm @ 4,500 rpm
2005 Accord LX (Inline 4): 160 HP SAE @ 5,500 rpm; 161 ft lb , 218 Nm @ 4,500 rpm

I STATED that i was talking about Inline 4 Accords, not the V6's, only the EX and the LX...

MY CAR:
2005 Sunfire (Inline 4): 165 HP SAE @ 5,600 rpm; 170 ft lb , 218 Nm @ 4,000 rpm

My car has more HP and WAY MORE TORQUE than even the SI's, and my car has more HP and more TORQUE than Accords.

Now lets go to the driving part... My car shifts faster than any manuals that i raced, the accord that i raced got like 1/4 of a car length at first gear, and when he shifts, which was almost the same time i shift, he slowed down and i caught up and then i passed him...

Now im talking about 1/4 mile races, maybe 2/9, which is little shorter, my car has so much more torque then the Honda's.

Normal Inline 4 Civic: Killed him by like 6-7 cars
Civic SI: Killed him by like 3 cars
Accord: Killed by around 2 cars

I raced automatic's too and i killed them, but they didnt lose as bad as the manuals...

Now the 2006 Civic DX, EX, LX (Inline 4): 140 HP SAE @ 6,300 rpm; 128 ft lb , 174 Nm @ 4,300 rpm

2006 Civic SI's (Inline 4): 197 HP SAE @ 7,800 rpm; 139 ft lb , 174 Nm @ 6,100 rpm

but thats at 7800 rpm to reach 197 HP and i STILL have more torque than the SI's, thats why i would be able to keep up with an SI, and it will catch up, but i wont lose more than 2 cars...

I want to race an SI and see how "CRAZY" they are.
