Steve,
I will take my Impreza out for a drive tonight to see if it squats or not, but it is not something I have ever noticed, I have noticed it in my Focus though, but I just acredited it to the fwd phenomenon.
No doubt I am wrong again, it happens frequently at the moment, to the extent I am getting quite sick of myself now.
Something I hate here in America is the proliferation of frigging automatic transmissions, thankfully the Focus is not, but the Scoob is and that could be another part of why it doesn't squat?
God knows, I am getting to hate myself........

Ray

Ray,

Don't be on such a downer with yourself, that is only my idea of an explanation, it may not be 100% accurate.

Just noticed, your Impreza is a 2.5 RS not a 2.0 Turbo like mine right?

Steve

Steve,
You would be having a downer too if you were having a day as shite as mine.....
The Impreza in the 2.5RS, 165hp
Focus is the 2.0 Zetec, 130hp
Can you believe that when I went to the Ford dealer and said I wanted a manual transmission, he was like 'why?'
I couldn't get a manual trans Subaru for the love of money here.....

To big exten the car movement under acceleration and braking depends on the spring stiffness and damper setup. So Ray, perhaps the rear springs on the focus are softer and / or the shocks offer less resistance that the scoobie, which makes the squat in the Focus more noticeable. Transmission and drivetrain arrangement shouldn't make any difference, it's pure inertia, as Steve said - under acceleration the weight shifts to the back, under braking - to the front. Hope this explains.

Another thing: Steve, is it true that the kit has no underside detail whatsoever? Can you post a pic of the underside? Thanks.

Alex

A Scooby with a slush-box? Only the American market would have demand for such a thing...

At least you managed to get a manual Focus

You got it Focus2000, only in America......
In the UK and SA, the other 2 countries I have lived in, an auto trans is a special factory order, here a manual is a special.....I don't know if it is to do with the 'complexity' of a manual, or just laziness.......hehe
I will never forget the look on the salesmans face the day I asked for a manual trans Focus.....priceless
Alex,
The Subaru definitely has a stiffer ride than the Focus.

It's been a couple of weeks since I mentioned anything about this kit and I've made quite a lot of progress since then. Firstly in answer to Ales' question, no, there is no underside detail at all, apart from an exhaust silencer at the rear.
I did lower the rear end as I said before, the interior also lacks detail and has caused a few problems, when the dashboard was fitted it rubbed on the body and caused the body to sit too high again so quite a lot was filed off the corners of the dashboard to make the body fit properly again. The decals were put on at the weekend and unlike the rest of the kit were very good indeed, fitting the body well and not too thick and not too thin, I must say I was very impressed with the result. The interior is more or less complete now although I fear more problems as I am about to fit the rollcage together.

More when finished soon (hopefully)

Steve
